Until the first time you get in the truck to start it, forget to check if it's in gear and start it.

I had been taught to always leave the vehicle in gear. So I always put it back in first. Sometimes I leave it in second and I have to think about why it happened lol.

Realize, I haven't been back to the thread since I posted. Enjoyed the conversation that started due to an idea I had. Some of ya'll are just plain negative. And it feels for no reason. I appreciate the feedback, but the approach.

Ended up not doing this (yet). I have since, left it in gear and pulled my foot off the clutch and had it jump the curb in my carport hitting the underside of my carport storage with my hood. Dang iiiiiiitt!

I had a car with a finicky clutch position sensor. I pulled it out and just jumpered the contacts on the plug. Worked fine for years and never had any issues. Then one day my dad hopped in, cranked it over and almost ran over his 85 year old aunt. I fixed that sensor properly the next day. Not worth it.

    Ouch!

When I was a kid I remember coming home and parking my dad's car in the driveway, but the next morning I realized it had rolled down to the street. I didn't yank hard enough on the parking brake. Now I leave it in 4th gear. Still use the parking brake to hold the truck but being in gear is just extra assurance. If for some reason I have a brain fart and pop the clutch, 4th gear is significantly taller than 1st so when it does stall it won't lurch forward as much.
