As the title states, I'm wanting to ditch the flat Oklahoma landscape, & head to Montana. My wife isn't too fond of the idea, but not totally against it. My family has a lot of land down here, and that's my biggest reason for staying.(except my wife & daughter). I've been perusing the realty pages in search of land with an abundance of mature trees for a potential cabin & wood heat. Any info, pros, cons, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go up there and visit during the winter before you make the move. I love it up there, but I've only been there in early summer. I understand that some of the winters can be brutal. Where do you live in Oklahoma?

Definitely plan on taking a few trips there before committing. Tulsa area(northeast).
