Recently bought a 2 year old warn vr evo 8s winch on offerup for $300, guy claimed it worked "great". I get home and noticed the remote is wrong so I call Warn they help me order the right one and also send me a new plug for the top control plug in. I hooked up a battery and all I'm getting is a click from the solenoid , then the remote shuts off for 2 mins then turns back on. It will not spool in or out, the free spool works and physically the winch looks brand new, no signs of neglect. I want to test the motor however I only see an F1 an F2 and a 3rd post that's unlabeled, I'm assuming the solenoid is good as it is clicking. Anyone ever deal with these exact models of warns or know much about them? I can't seem too find many resources for this exact model as I'm sure most people send them in for warranty.

F1 and F2 are for the field. The last wire is for the armature. You’ll need to ensure the contactor is pulling in. Check the coil resistance first then energize and measure contact resistance, should be less than 1 ohm when closed.

Spoke with Warn tech support for about an hour this morning, they had me double check connections, grounds and volts coming in and out of the contact. They then had me jump the motor by jumping f1 to armature then connecting power to f1 and grounding the motor. I got some smoke and nothing, warn diagnosed a bad motor. Warn bieng the awsome company they are, I am getting a free of charge motor from them to get my winch working.
