So this weekend I was out on the property doing some hunting when I backed up into a hole that centered my truck in the rear. Wenched myself out and parked it. When I went to leave this morning it was giving me an ABS/Brake/ and Stability red light code on the dash. It gave me an error and wouldnt active cruise control either on the highway. It even gave me an error for 2WD-4WD failure. I was able to clear this later.

I also feel like maybe it was stuck in 4H or something. I was getting 13 MPG on the highway, when I normally get like 20-21.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue?

Have you peaked under the truck and taken a look? I’d guess a torn abs wire on the rear axle.

Yup, Gotta take a look see. As Stated, ABS wires and sensors to/at wheels + brake lines, and wires/connectors, etc. As for the Cruise ... the computer normally will not let you use cruise if it detects a problem with the vehicle. I'd worry about that last as it may sort itself out when you fix the other error cause(s). Sorry and good luck! Keep usn posted !

I've checked all the axles and no cables seem to be lose or damaged.

Same! My guess is ABS wire. If u have a scanner u can look at wheel speed sensors and see if they all coincide with each other.

Easy to clean - run it through the car wash .... Also check your disk calipers , Ebrake (Ebrake OK ?), and drum lip for foreign stuff ... Sticks, rocks etc.

Got it clean. Used the pressure washer on all the wheels and undercarriage. Still showing the errors.

I did notice however something interesting. I get the 2WD-4WD error immediately if I swap from 2WD to 4WD and into 4LO. However, I can hear the 4LO and 4H engage. When I shut the vehicle off in 4LO for example or 4H, it actually shows that its in that mode. Its only when I swap from 2WD..

As mentioned earlier, the comp wont let me swap to Cruise or when in 4LO use Crawl.

So I'm thinking maybe its electrical? Something with the fuses perhaps?

Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. Reconnect and see if it throws the codes again.

Check your fuses by your lower left leg and underhood drivers side behind wheel and in front of firewall. Others can chime in here if I'm wrong or missed a location ... Again I'd not worry about the cruise until the other issues fixed first

Did you happen to fill up with gas before your adventure?

A loose / cocked gas cap will cause a similar response of lights / loss of functions

Clearwater brings up a point .... When you extracted the truck from the hole - was still ok then? You said next am ... so you drove it (home /some distance?) from the hole and all was fine until the morning ... ??? Did you go any where else between the hole and the next morning ??

So there is a 98% likelihood that this is the front ADD actuator, or the transfer case actuator.. (or the wiring connecting to them).

If you want to diagnose yourself, really need techstream and a cable. Alternative is an ohmmeter, but much quicker with techstream before going to ohmmeter next.

Free copies of techstream are available on the site. A USB to OBDII cable is available on Amazon or ebay (about $20-$50).

This thread has the basic diagnostic data...

If it's a fuse, there's a bigger issue, fuses aren't consumables. IMO this is a wiring issue. Cruise turning off is most likely because the ECU is not getting input from the wheel speed sensor.

Several people have suggested that you get an OBDII reader and check for error codes.

Most of the inexpensive OBDII readers will read and erase engine trouble codes but will not examine your ABS system. You want an OBDII reader that also has the ABS scan function. They are usually listed as Engine / ABS. Some can scan multiple systems such as Engine / ABS / Trans / SRS (Air Bags). So if you are going to purchase a scan tool, make sure it will scan the systems you are diagnosing.
