It's all good. Just geeking out a bit instead of doing real work.

I broke mine and did just that. Toyota bolt was far inferior to the Ace hardware replacement.

Installed my RagoFab stiffeners in about 20 minutes if you include trimming the bed mat. Solid AF!

lol I snapped mine 2 years ago. Never fixed it, and its been zero issues. Any bolt that takes 10lbs to snap isnt really in my opinion something to worry about on the bed.

I was using my torque wrench and before I even got to 10 ft lbs I thought it wasn't feeling right. Texted my buddy who said he broke his. I just got it snugged and they haven't moved :notsure:

    Let me get this straight...
You guys are blaming Toyota for using a Toyota bolt in an application Toyota did not design the bolt for...
Question... how many of those bolts snapped while using them for the original Toyota application?

Maybe i missed it but I don't think anyone is blaming Toyota, not me at least. Only stating the bolt snapped while tightening. Im pretty sure it would've snapped while reinstalling for Toyotas original intended application

My top screw snapped out tonight while installing the total chaos bed stiffeners ... really pissed me off, I was literally walking away, did a triple check on tightness, and boom snapped ... I mangled the hell out of the back trying to wrench it out, so I'm not even certain a screw extractor would work, but I'm going to try. Honestly though, is this top bolt providing anything, esp at 10 lb torque?

I broke the top bolt on mine during install over 18 months ago and just left it. Everything is still super tight, I'm not to worried. I figured it's better to have the stiffeners installed even with the top bolt broken than no stiffeners at all. I'd say you're fine

I snapped one off tonight putting my canopy back on. I have one of those Rango Antenna holders and ran the bolt in with my Milwaukee 12v ratchet that barely hits 22#. Kinda funny now I see this thread pop up. I couldn’t believe it snapped.

I did the same thing, you essentially tighten it to snug and that's it. You should be able to get to it from the back side with some pliers and walk it out enough to get it from the front. It's like a $5 part from a Toyota dealership.

Wow I'm glad I found this thread. Just looking at the title I thought "Don't tell me I wasn't the only one who snapped a top bolt."

    Crazy.
