I too have a take off parts box. Well, several actually.

Did y'all read the instructions? I installed mine without snapping the top bolt. I did manage to break a drill bill, but that was my fault for forcing it.

Did the TC bed stiffeners install today without issue, didn't torque the top bolts, only snugged them as they're not load bearing

I was shopping for Total Chaos stiffeners and saw this post has anyone tried Putting longer 6mm hardened bolts through backwards putting bolt in from tail light cavity and using washer and lock nut on inside of bed ? That way if it did break {usually from inside bed] you can easily remove bolt. Just scratching head planning... mmmm whatcha think?

Sounds like a solution that would work without breaking the bolt. Again, this bolt is non load bearing so there's no need to tighten beyond snug. If worried about it backing out, you could throw a drop of locktite on it.

Why not go out and buy an extra nut bolt and washers and just drill out that top bolt and just put a nut in bolt in there ?? And torque it to 18 like the rest ?
