Metallic type pads are ok for a high performance sports car when meant to be driven like you stole it, but I own a tacoma, and last I knew its a truck. Toyota would of installed semi metallic brake pads if they thought It'd be better.

Factually, semi-metallics stop better in a wider range of temperatures. Just because Toyota engineers (in their infinite wisdom) don’t use them doesn’t mean they are made for sports cars or aggressive driving. It’s more because whiny American consumers can’t deal with a little bit of squeek or dust without throwing a snowflake hissy fit.

Please, no logic here. Toyota engineers put them there, therefore, they are hands down the only option that could possibly be considered “best” for the truck, no matter what various conditions the truck may see in its life.

Lots of generalizations here with respect to Ceramic or Semi-met pads....none of which are really accurate.

Those nomenclatures typically refer to the base material of the brake pad....a semi-met pad starts out life as a bucket full of chopped up steel wool and a ceramic pad starts out as bucket full of fine ceramic material, neither of which do much of anything useful on their own. After adding in a bunch of other ingredients, it starts to take shape as a friction material. Brake pads use anything from graphite (a lubricant) to aluminum oxide (an abrasive) to ground up walnut shells....any number of thousands of ingredients to give a brake pad the desired characteristics.

You cannot group pads into simply "semi-metallic" and "ceramic" catagories and expect all of each to act anywhere near the same as each other. There are thousands of formulas of each, and plenty more that don't fit those catagories, and plenty more that do but are called something else.

Pads are made to different price points and for different purposes.
