As far as the shifting goes it gets much better over time. Mine didn't start shifting smooth until about 20k miles. Took it over a year for the fuel economy to get better also.

Since you had to jump it, I would have replaced the battery with a new one and then seen how it reacted before moving on.

Hi sorry for the late reply
Was again traveling for work

Long story short, they claimed the harness was chewed by rodents (we only have squirrels in the area, so its them)
Cable was just slightly chewed and it supposedly caused all the mess. Got pics if someone wants to see them.
It almost feels like they made up the whole thing - the cable was barely touched

$1300 for the whole thing - but I was floored when I got the breakdown of parts/labor (insurance asked for it)
~$150 for the cable and....$1100 for labor - how TF is labor $550/hr? I have text time stamps from the rep from the moment they got the cable until it was done. 2 hrs work.

As many suggested, feels as I was taken to the cleaners but I put an insurance claim and we'll see how it goes - it's under review
I'm pissed off but it is what it is - it's sad because I had a good impression of the dealer and they were good to me on previous visits (truck lift, tires etc)

I was reserving my google review of them for after the first few service visits after the purchase and oooh boy... I won't be gentle to them.

    Thanks so much for this.
I'm just seeing it and it put my mind at ease. That's good to know.

They charge by what the job takes in hours per their "labor manual". So the book can say it takes 12 hours and they do it in 5, they still charge you the 12. Id ask them for a break in the amount of hours it actually took, compared to the manual hours. They may goodwill you some cash towards the labor portion of the bill.

I believe it rarely takes much less than the book time, often more. :notsure:

Years back my wife's Ford Fiesta was DOA in the driveway of our house. We had it towed to the local dealer where she bought it. Got a call from the service manager that afternoon who said it was rodent damage and to call our insurance company and have their adjuster come look at it. Geico sent an adjuster to the dealer, the dealer worked it out with them. When we went to pick up the car all the dealership wanted to be paid was the deductible. Was a pain but pretty straight forward, and certainly not the expensive song and dance the OP got. Glad you got your truck back but sorry you had to get fleeced by yet another asshole Toyota dealership.
