Hello everyone, I just bought my first Tacoma (2013) and have a question for all who have been around these trucks for a long time. I purchased an extended warranty (7 yrs or 100,000 miles) which covers lots of things but excludes maintenance items. For example, brake calipers and lines are covered but not rotors and pads. I spent about $1600 on the warranty and can cancel it at anytime and get a refund. I know that dealers make lots of $ off selling warranties. Do you all think I made a smart investment or did I just throw away my money?

Cancel it. You can get it online for a little over half the cost you paid. You won't find a warranty that covers wear and tear items.

Cancel and get your money back!! You can purchase warranty on-line from any Toyota dealer. 7/100 Platinum should set you back no more than $800.00.

If your truck needed $1600 worth of repairs in seven years. I'd be surprised.
Edit: I had a '99 extended cab 2.4L with about 138K miles before it was totaled. Other than a new windshield it needed $00 in repairs.

Call Jerry Johnson, Midwest Toyota. 1-800-530-5789. I paid $559.00 for 7 year, 75,000 mile Platinum coverage in December 2010. Don't think prices have gone up too much in a couple of years. (email for Jerry is jerryj@midwestsuperstore.com.)

Just called Jerry and bought the 7/100 Platinum warranty for $889.00. This was half of what I paid previously. Very easy process. He called me back 5 min after I left him a VM. Both Jerry and I thank you for the info.

    Question for you guys..

Im just out of my factory warranty and have been receiving offers from my local dealer for an extended warranty. I had an extended warranty on my last Tacoma but got it when I bought it.

Is it any different to get it now compared to during purchase? Do you pay in full? Lookin for info before i go in and talk to them or call. I'm at 37k and some change.
