Sounds like they don't know what they are doing. A big C clamp style ball joint press is what i use. Can also use a hydraulic press or a vice. Heck, I've even done them with a hammer, socket and a block of wood.

Yup, a vice and socket will do it.

took mine in since a few buddies had theirs looked at. Must have had a misinformed service lady since she took one look at my truck and denied an inspection even after pulling up the vin. I laughed and took a picture of her name tag and told her if my shit breaks and since she was the one that denied me, i would send toyo the details.

You shouldn’t. They can look it up by your VIN and the fact you’re throwing CEL codes for it.

    Wrong thread. Sorry!!!

I just decided to order the OEM spiders and do it myself.

I just realized that the spiders I'm going to order are in fact made in the USA and they have a zerk fitting. Awesome

My replacements do not have grease fittings. Kinda a bummer imo

Mine got bad enough that I took it in a couple of weeks ago. U joints and carrier were shot. They replaced the entire shaft assembly (took a few days to get parts in) and I immediately had to take it back because while the play was gone from the bad bearing/joints, the vibration was worse! The brand new shaft they installed wasn't true. They kept my truck for another week while getting parts and installing them, providing me with a loaner car. The most frustrating thing for me was that they must not have performed a test drive after the first shaft was replaced. The bad vibrations started at 20mph and got worse from there. Argh. Oh well...all good now!
