warranty issue. Need help guys

I had 1 year old toyo taco 2012. purchase brand new. Drove to Tahoe for the week end and all the sudden ac start acting up. Cut the story short...

I went to toyota dealership assess the issue and said tiny rock hits the condenser and that cause the leaks. Now toyota doesn't cover the warranty due to impact damage and not parts failure. Any suggestion guys?

 

Did they show you were the impact from the rock? They have to prove that it was the rock before they can void the warranty on doing the work. You could always try a different dealer.

 

No i havent seen it yet. I drop it off today they told me to leave it over night. my advisor called me to tell the bad news :-(

 

Im going back tomowo though to take a look at it.

 

They didn't do anything to the truck did they? Work on it at all?

 

well i took my truck for change oil every 5 months, and one time blown fuse but thats about it.

 

Sounds like there should be a clear hole they can show you if it's impact damage. If there is evidence of impact damage - There isn't anything to suggest except pay for the repairs. Absent any evidence - Fight them until them pay for it.

I believe it. I took out the condenser on my Golf R with a bird. It was a pretty small bird, too.

I believe you can go through your insurance under your comprehensive coverage.

 

Most likely i will pay out of my pocket for the repair. I also email toyota costumer care and tell them what happened. Send some photo, Also told mention that that front grill design is not meant to protect the condenser. The gap is to wide and rocks can easily go through and cause damage. idk what there response.
If i will get it fix, what is it will happen again? toyota should look this up and help tacoma owners regarding this issue. So people that own tacoma 2012+ change you front grill otherwise u end up paying 1500 bucks. well thats what toyota quote me not including tax.

 

2012 tacoma. the grill had this big gap or space that rocks can go through and cause damage to the condenser. They should have made a mesh that goes inside to at least prevent or absorb impacts, like rocks that flies around on the freeway.

 

That design has been used by most vehicles for 50 years with no screen to prevent it, and it isn't a common cause of failure.

You were just unlucky in that it hit just right and caused a crack.

Rock impact isn't a warranty issue.

 

Get a satoshi grill to remedy the issue

 

They don't have to prove that it was a rock.

If there is any sign of an impact of anything on the condensor they are not liable. Our warranty doesn't cover road hazards.

 

yea i heard that grill... but i dont think he makes 2012 grill yet. ?

 

If your worried about it happening again just install a screen between the grill and condenser.
