Try doing a dead FOB start.
    Cap the blue wires first.

Too late for that lol. He already had it sent to the dealership and fixed. I did try holding the push-to-start button without pushing the brake but it didn't start. Wonder what their "specified amount of time is"

Dealer A sold the truck, said it was a dealer loaner, removed something they instslled. Dealer B fixed the truck, said it wasn't warrany because it was something aftermarket installed, said you have to pay.

Dealer B is correct, you have to pay them period. It's not warranty. You can't bad mouth them at all. You'll have to go after Dealer A to be reimbursed. They lied to you, it sucks, but you can't blame Dealer B.

Do you have an attorney friend? That is probably the only way you may see any money. I feel for you, but if you want to start a shit storm, do it to Dealer A.

I clearly think that's what he has been saying and they're trying to get dealer A to cover the cost of repair.....Autonation Toyota in AZ are the fuckwads in this.

Absolutely. I'm going after dealer A for the cost of the repair. I just spoke to them this morning and they are adamant that it was a service loaner truck, so I can't wait to see how they explain that there was tampering with the wiring. I sent the general manager the pictures from Dealer B and the work order. We'll see where this goes from here. UGH!!!

Definitely give them a reasonable chance to make things right. Nail their balls to the wall if they don't.

Something is not right here. Since Autonation is claiming it is a service loaner, either they put something in then ripped it out when they sold it to me OR Dick Poe is trying to screw me over by claiming there was after market wiring. Considering they sent me pics, I tend to believe the former. I just can't figure out why they would do that if, in fact, it was a service loaner. Why take the time to rip something out that was already in there when you could just add that to the cost of the vehicle. Something here isn't right!

Oh you're 100% correct that something isn't right. There's no reason a real service loaner / demo truck would have something installed. I'm not in the industry so I could be wrong but my guess would be it was in the "loaner fleet" but really was just used as a personal truck by someone high enough up in a dealership to do that. They modified for remote start and botched the removal.

That would explain why it never got registered as sold to an individual and wouldn't show as such in Carfax.

I was thinking the same thing about it being "borrowed" by some higher up.

Ask yourself, " what's one way a vehicle becomes a service loaner"?

Still curious why a dealer would half-ass remove it and leave the relay there connected to the brake switch wire. Appears they just unhooked the alarm system and called it a day which would be pretty shady. You can see an insulated plug-type terminal at the end of the harness from the relay that was plugged into something also.

@PJnc284 remember, the "dealer" didn't do the removal. Either the person who was using it did so themselves (so nobody would know about the modification), or some technician did so at that person's behest. If that person was an azzhat and/or the tech was planning to quit soon anyway, I could see a sh!tty job being done.

Agreed. Now that we are talking about this possibility, it seems morel likely that something like that happened. As I said earlier, whatever the case is, I think the selling dealership should be responsible for it.

Yep. You were sold something advertised as one thing and in fact received something different.

Just got a response from the dealership. The guy that sold it to me just texted me back to say that it was a trailer brake controller that was removed. For you guys that know the wiring, could that be a possibility? I've asked him why would it be removed in the first place and whether that would affect warranty if it was done at the dealership (allegedly)

Thought most brake controllers were just plug and play but if the wiring that was left was part of it, then they should definitely be footing the bill.

Show the text to the dicks dealership, then ask them to contact dealership A.
