It's amazing how hit and miss warranty work is approved. How the service writer and tech feel that day, can really affect the outcome. Toyota corporate reps are pretty much useless.

Bad needle bearing? Suggest that to them, or just install the ECGS clamshell bushing yourself. Assuming your tires are road force balanced anyway.

I have my dads 19 dc w/40k right now to throw on a trd exhaust. What is typical warranty on these? He's got what sounds like a very quiet tick at idle - sounds like maybe an idler pulley on its way out and roof weather strip backing out at the joint to the rear.

Needle bearing and poorly balanced tires have 2 very different symptoms.

Front driver's side wheel bearing went out around 12k miles. Dealership denied with the rationalization that I must have been driving around with loose lug nuts, even though I never had the wheel off. First thing I did when the wobbled started was check that they were torqued, and they were. Not the worst thing to get denied, since it only cost me $65 for the part and a couple of gray hairs teaching my son (kid has the dexterity of a cat), but did not instill confidence in me if something major happens.

Timing cover at 98k miles with 100k mile extended warranty. I turned down the third brake light fix. I'm approaching 160k this month, so I'll fix it myself if ever needed.

Yeah and “vibration” on a truck forum has at least 1000 different definitions.

So let me get this straight. You are calling the dealership a "stealership" because they didn't have a shock in stock for your truck. And somehow it is their fault it is on backorder. Toyota is one of the few brands that did not have supply chain issues for parts during Covid. I have been with Toyota for several years. And I can count on one hand, how many times I have had a part I needed, be on backorder. I think your expectations are too high. Dealers do not stock every part for every car. Just a fact of life. And I know this from working for 3 different manufactures over 20+ yrs.

Just had my ECM replaced because the truck wouldn't shift into S mode (it was like that off the lot).

    ~9,000 miles
"Customer states: Hearing scraping/grinding noise from right rear. Noise is periodic, and changes with speed. Not all the time, may be associated with temperature."

It took two more visits and test drive with a technician to get this resolved. "Found right rear brake shoe making noise against backing plate as they shift during operation. Cleaned and lubed plate contact points, and adjusted."

By then the truck had >14k miles and out of 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty for "brake noises and adjustments". Dealer covered it as "1 time customer goodwill."

Other than a recall for the fuel pump and regular maintenance, all good so far. Approaching 60k miles.

Just rolled 165,xxx miles on a 2017. I've had some warranty work done, all without issue or pushback from the dealership. Wasn't particularly pleased with having to deal with all of it, specifically bought a Toyota to keep from having issues. But overall, I've been pleased with the truck.

FWIW, that's 165,xxx miles on the original clutch.

2023 sr5. 338 miles my power steering stopped working. Dealer replaced the pump and it’s all good now. Must just been defective unit. My truck has the infamous gear whine at around 50-60mph. 2 dealerships and corporate deemed it normal and won’t do anything to fix it. Both dealer foreman’s warned even if Toyota agrees to replace the rear diff it could make it worse and louder. So I’m just gonna live with because it isn’t that annoying. Only other “issue” is I hear what sounds like wind noise around the right rear door and cab. Double cab short bed.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
GPS not working so replaced H/U. Vibration after front lift so changed front axle bushing twice. Second time with ECGS bushing at no cost.

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
AZ Toyota dealers are the best. I went through LHM Peoria, got a nice discount for public safety after knocking the price down equivalent to an SR5. It’s amazing what happens when they don’t pay their sales people on commission.

Bought mine in Denver at Mountain States Toyota in '19. I don't think they are on commission either. It was a very decent buying experience.

I think the old days of car buying are gone after COVID, shortages/supply chain issues, business models like Carvana and online buying options. Glad of it, too.
