42" almost takes up the entire width. 50"/52" will pop out(truck roof line).

I have a 50 and it's perfect length to the truck. Fits between each corner of the windshield.

I see, how did you mount yours? 50" will be big for a regular factory channel-location brackets(unless you bend it outwards). I personally think my 42" LED bar is big but that's just me I guess...

Rigid Industry mounts that bolt up to the roof rack mounts. I have the stock mounts and I can measure them out for you if you like?

Didn't have a ruler handy. Used a Bic as a reference.

Ha, sorry, I have those (they came with my lights as well) but how did you attach it to the roof/truck-top?

I didn't use the ones that came with it I got aftermarket mounts. They go into the stock roof rack holes.

This is my temporary LED bar mounting. I will move it underneath the rack very soon. I want to finish up the wiring while I figure out the details ...
top front view - as you can see, the X-Clamps will not work.

    drilled a hole:

    mounted the bar

    weather strips are back on

I will get to wiring soon.
Next on the agenda: mount the bar underneath the rack. Any ideas? products? please let me know.

Here's what I was thinking if you're brave enough: since your LED bar has the "locking" mounting tabs (that clock the bar in position when you tighten the bolts) you could consider radiusing the mount itself to the contour of the tube on the front of the rack and drilling holes for hardware that go through the bar diagonally from the rear of the front tube (similar angle as the windshield). That should position the top of the light just underneath the roof rack and allow for things to be carried on the roof rack that may need to extend past the forward tube and not interfere with the light. (Not sure if I'm making any sense). This is what I'm planning for my roof rack project. I'll see if I can sketch up something to give you a better idea.
Or you can skip all that, ditch the mounting tabs that came with the light and weld new tabs in the lowered position. This is easier and would look cleaner, but understandably most guys don't want to cut, drill, or grind on fresh powdercoat. I figured since you drilled a couple holes already, you got the cajones.

The Warrior Products #4860 Toyota Tacoma Platform Roof Rack has a load capacity of 400 lbs. on-road and 250 lbs. off-road. We recommend these weights because, while the platform rack itself can hold considerably more weight, the integrity of the vehicle roof may not.

Dang that's pretty good, if I'm not mistaken that's more than the Baja utility rack that I was pretty much set on until I saw this rack. Thanks for the info!

Update on this rack? How did it affect mpg? How loud do you have to have the radio to drowned out the wind noise with the windows up?

I'm sure you would like to hear from one of your peers, as my answer may be considered a bit biased. I've driven the Warrior Tacoma from Portland, OR to Las Vegas and back. Granted we are only on 33" Nitto Exo Grapplers, not the loudest tire on the market by any means, but I hardly noticed any wind noise from inside the cab (with the windows up). The Warrior Tacoma also has the #4865 Platform Roof Rack Air Dam, which greatly helps in reducing that wind noise. Anytime you change the dynamics of the vehicle, there is going to be additional wind resistance, noise, etc.

Thanks for piping in. I actually enjoy seeing a company active on boards. I'm coming from the jeep world and had a rack on it. It dropped my mpg by about 2.5 and had an awful whistling coming off it. I have to have a rack though especially since I'm getting a dcsb, but past experience is making me shy about it.

I completely understand. I imagine that you will notice a small drop in MPG, which is common to adding a roof rack. The loss should be considerably less than a basket-style rack, as this rack is extremely low profile and Warrior does have provisions to reduce any noise that you may encounter (#4865 Warrior Platform Roof Rack Air Dam). I'll let the other forum users chime in who have the rack on their vehicle .

So what is the weight capacity? That's my biggest concern? I won't hear the wind over my tires .
