Was I the only one that noticed the "Built in Texas" Tacoma was made in Mexico?

You have been pronouncing the name wrong.

The truck is the Tacom.....but the Canadians add the "A"...... So it's really called the "Tacom-Aye"

Now take off you hoser! Get oot and aboot!

From what I read, the Texas plant uses a lot more robotics than Baja. with the Mexico models being more "hand assembled" due to the high cost of maintenance of the high-end robotics in Baja where supply chains aren't as reliable / cheap. I can see this all over my truck. The truck (now) runs well, but it's very clear in my mind that a human assembled my bumper and such that's crooked and looks like I've wrecked it (I haven't)

I bought my Tacoma at a San Diego dealership. The finance manage lives in Tijuana. The Baja Plant is just south of Tijuana, on the road to Ensenada.

Everything y'all are saying is true.

That is correct, any vehicle made in Canada will have a 2 at the beginning of the VIN. I never said Tacoma’s were made in Canada. It was already established in the thread that Tacoma’s are made in Texas with the VIN starting with 5 and Mexico with a 3. I was just pointing out that there are other vin’s 1,2,4. 1, 4 for USA, 2 for Canada. They don’t apply to Tacoma’s.

You’re right, I was thinking of one particular domestic OEM I deal with that uses 1 for US built vehicles.
