Does such a thing exist? Just got a Roof-top Tent on my Tacoma and am looking for a place I can drive out onto the sand and set it up and camp there for a few days without getting a flashlight in my face and asked to vacate. Everything I've come across that allows camping, doesn't allow vehicles, or the other way around: vehicles allowed, but no camping. Does anyone know of a place that allows both? Am I nuts thinking this is possible? Any help is appreciated.

There are some good spots out on Long Beach that we camp at, if you go all the way to the south end by Ilwaco there is a little cove that is fairly private and protected from weather. Make sure you check the tides though, at higher tides the beach tends to disappear.

Would that be Beards Hollow? Is dispersed camping allowed there? My Google-Fu™ skills are failing me right now.

Never heard it called that before, but looking on google maps, yes that is what I'm referring to. I've never had an issue there, I've camped on Long Beach since I was a kid.

Pretty sure Ocean Shores allows it...I think! Other places you typically have to foot in..can't access with your truck.

Definitely going to try these out. I'll have to look for a backup in case I'm told to leave... Too far to drive home half asleep. :D

Ocean Shores does not allow camping on the beach.

That said, if anyone finds a place, let me know I've been in the same boat wondering where to do this aside from driving to Oregon.

Very interested in what you guys find for beach camping, would love to take the taco out to the sand and camp out there!

    Cheers*

Im down for a taco out to the sisters in Oregon. It's an amazing area on the coast, there's a gate, but I'm sure someone has some bolt cutters :spy:

This Cove? Looks pretty cool and hopefully blocks some of the wind. Tide looks like it can go far out enough to cut you off from getting back though until it goes out again. Looks fun.

I'll be out at Fort Stevens State Park throughout the weekend, thinking of checking out this spot come Monday/Tuesday.

Ft Stevens is pretty cool, you can check out what's left of the Peter Iredale, which is almost completely covered in sand by now. You can drive down the beach from there to Gearhart.
