Just got home from puyallup. Took me an hour to get about 2miles from my house then took 30 mins to get the last 2 miles cause people were getting stuck. First time having the yota in icy snow since I put the Lift and tires on and I am impressed. Was runnin 45-50 down the highway with no problems. Love my duratracs.

2008 was epic. I was cruising around in my Saturn dodging sliding Lexuses for the better part of the morning on Dec. 23rd or whenever the snow hit. I had to go from Kirkland to downtown in the morning, then downtown to Issaquah around 11:00. From there, I had to go to the airport for a flight out.

Only problems I had were going from downtown to Issaquah, I spun out on the I-90 bridge. But nobody was around me, so I straightened out and put my chains on in the tunnel.

Then, I had to pull over and take them off on the side of 405 on the way to their airport when the snow decided it didn't want to fall in Renton. Dumb.

I was delayed for 6 hours but managed to get out. They closed SeaTac for the next two days.

Cost me $100 in parking fees, but it was worth it.

We got a little more than an 1 1/2" this afternoon. Not a whole lot, but it was fun to see it come down and see everything white.

Had to go into work late this morning because there was a school bus that had spun out on Juanita Drive blocking both lanes, so they had it closed off for a while. Plus all of the crazies out there that don't know how to drive were spun all over the place blocking the lanes at different locations as well.

I CANNOT STAND people who do not know how to drive in the snow. It is SO annoying to be around them and is almost worth it just to stay at home to avoid those crazies when it snows.

Basic rule of thumb for other drivers which I have never seized to understand, if you cannot make it out of the driveway or up your own street, then DO NOT attempt to go any further!!:fenforcer:Ugh.

lol when i literally first bought my truck, i had to drive it 1700miles back home. When I was going through northern cali, there was a big snow storm up in the mountains north of Redding. All the warning signs said chains required. They blocked off I-5 and were inspecting for chains. So I turned around and bought some chains from NAPA.

The truck had 36K miles with the original tires. Which maybe had 20% tread left. I wasnt expecting to get caught in a blizzard like conditions and I read about all the horror stories of how bad the stock tires are. I was a little nervous about it. So I get up to the checkpoint and the officer waved me through without even checking for my chains.

So I'm driving up the highway and saw only a little flurry thinking this is no big deal. Then once you get up higher, BAM! Heavy snow everything. At least 6-8" stacked up on top of the center divider wall. So was coming down so hard, it was almost a white-out.

The right lane on the highway was lined with semis creeping up. Semis and cars on the shoulder chaining up. I'm thinking I should probably pull over and chain up too. But the truck felt fine, so I just kept going.

Made it through the mountains and go into Oregon without using the chains. Was able to return them too at home for a full refund. woot! So IMO, the stock tires performed great in this situation.

And today in the snow was no problem. Now I got Bridgestone REVO 2s on. Driving in 2WD, I can hear/feel the rear spinning for traction, but it was moving. So instead of being a jackass, i just put it in 4WD for that extra confidence.

I assume you're talking to me?

If so, I bought mine in Phx, AZ.
I flew from Seattle down to the seller in Phx. He picked me up at the airport. We drove down to his local bank. I inspect the car visually. Went inside the bank and gave him my bank's check. His bank verifies. Signs over title and Bill of Sale. Get them both notarized by his bank.

We drive back to his house. He gets into a different car and I follow him in my new truck to the local DOL/DMV or whatever it was called in AZ. He takes his plates and I go inside for my temp tag. It was like $12 or something like that. Was quick. Just showed them the signed over title and BOS and pay.

And off I went. I went west on the main highway. Got to cali and jumped onto I-5 as soon as I could find out and north I went until I got home. I tried to go non-stop except for food. But I got extremely tired I go to whatever I was in northern cali. It was just south of Redding I believe. I took a 3hr nap in a rest stop.

I left Phx at about 12PM. I didnt get home until 9PM the next day. If I didnt pull over and take that nap, I could have cut down on serious time. I would have only hit the start of the snow. And missed a bunch of traffic that I was caught up in because of the snow. I had to back track a few times trying to find a shop that had chains in stock too.

When I got home, I was told by my bank to do an emissions test first. Then go to the DMV with the bill of sale, title and emissions results. It was like $10 to do the emissions. But the DMV didnt even need it. Anyways, all I had to pay was "use tax", since I didnt pay sales tax. Had to write the state a $1700 check for taxes. Ugh.

Yeah, same here. It's just how all pickups are really as there isn't any weight back there over the tires.

Traffic updates! Sucks to be those out on the roads tonight. Talked to my neighbor, he said he left Seattle at 3pm and pulled into his driveway at 8:30pm... 26 miles from Seattle to our houses...

So I'm driving in stop and go traffic today, and there is a Chevy S-10 driving in the lane next to me. Get a little closer, and I see that the guy has chains on the front wheels. He would go a little ways and slide. Then his back wheels would start pushing his truck but the front wheels would be locked up with chains sliding left and right as he tried to keep control of his truck and come to a complete stop. Just kept endlessly repeating. Folks, don't be like this fool!

Grab a popped tube from kal-tire/les schwab from a semi truck and fill it with sand. wire the ends shut with mechanics wire or re-bar wire and you have one super heavy bag of sand that wont pop when you touch it.
