Jeezuss, it took me 4 hours to get from Redmond to Seattle, via Kirkland (although about 30 minutes of that was stopping part way to help my buddy put chains on his LR Discovery). Brutal. 520 was an absolute shit sandwich.

I got home at 10:30 pm and decided to go tooling around (LOVE to drive in snow) and holy shit -- I came SO close to getting seriously F'd on this one steep hill. I tried going up the hill and half way up traction gave out and it was all over, I started sliding back down the hill backwards, just along for the ride. I looked in the rearview and saw that I was on a direct collision course with a parked 4runner and had about 10 seconds as I was sliding backwards, completely at the mercy of gravity, to think long and hard about how much of a fool I was to try to attempt that hill. As the 4runner came closer and closer, my insides hurt more and more, as I knew the certain carnage that was imminent. Just about 18" or so prior to impact at probably a 10mph backwards freefall, my tires by the grace of mother jehovah gripped a grain of pavement and disaster was miraculously averted. I now believe in miracles, holy shit. The front end was still sliding around counterclockwise when my rear tire gripped and I did a 180 within inches of that 4runner and I got the nose pointed back downhill and managed to cowboy it out to the bottom of the hill and threaded the needle between two more parked cars. Pheww.

Yeah, I was watching the 10:00 news and they were showing I5. Just bumper to bumper both ways still and there were five city buses all spun out on 520 blocking lanes.

They say we may be getting a few more inches Tuesday which is supposed to be really really cold in the lower 20's. Possibly a white out in some areas.

I gotta say my drive home from work was pretty much a breeze. I think the 4 60lbs Sandbag helped out a lot. I took it slow and easy. Here's what it looked like during my lunch break:

If you parking on such inclines when is super slippery engage 4x4. This way all 4 wheels will hold you on the road and not only rear ones.

It took me 3.5 hours to go 4 miles down Airport Way by Boeing field. The snow wasn't even bad, it was the insane amount of people on the roads. I probably didn't even need the 4x4, the weight of the truck was enough to drive securely.

I did shave a little time by hopping a curb and taking the outer road along the airport facilities as far as I could, and later by using the 6 feet of shoulder that people left. (can't take credit for that one, an Armada did it first) Those acts probably cut an hour off my travel time.

I did pass 2 Rangers stuck on the side of the road!

Had to work in it all last night,,the Peterbuilt was sliding around horribly. banked overpasses were a lesson in bravery and skill. no problems, made it home. seen lots of peeps in the ditch tho'.

The new BFG all terrains got me and the Taco home just fine, along with the 300 lbs in the back,,;).

Talked to one of my work buddies during the shift, took him 6 hrs to drive 2 miles. People panic when this stuff hits the ground for the first time in the area. Be careful,,even playing in it.
