Is the Casio Duro capable of actual diving? I scuba dive (although it's been a few years) and I will be diving the Atlanta aquarium next month. I can't seem to find a site showing people actually diving with it although it's rated at 200m. And yes I'm aware of how watch water resistance ratings work. I know a dive watch isn't necessary these days but thought it would be cool to see if it actually works while scuba diving. Max depth will be 30ft.

This is the first “expensive” watch I bought myself 10 years ago. It’s deadly accurate and best of all stays charged via solar power.

new they are $10,100 for the date. But good luck finding one at retail. I’m on the waiting list for one but it’ll be a year or more. Yes, my AD keeps an actual list and is first come first serve…they get 15/month. Currently over 200 customers on the waiting list. You can do the math. I’m approx # 200 in line.

I had two locations put me on a list for a GMT in 2018 and still nothing, despite many check-ins and being invited to events. Picked up a used Explorer II just over a year ago and I’m very happy with that decision.

I wanted a Sub originally when I bought my Tudor but the wait is so long and I got my Tudor in three days from the time I inquired about it.

At least the 13mo wait gives me time to bulk up my savings account. I have zero desire to flip one. I want it to hopefully pass down to a grandson one day.

I guess if I wanted a real dive watch, I could just get a Divex Offshore 500.

I’m on the waiting list for the new 41mm Submariner. He works for Rolex. Luckily I’m restoring his motorcycle so I may have some pull.

Guess I got lucky about 3-4 years back. Walked into my local AD and they had 15-20 Rolex's on display. 6-8 of them sports models.
Walked out with this (new) couple hours later for about $1K under retail. About a year ago they doubled the size of the store adding a Rolex exclusive/only room. Been in twice since then. Yet to see a single Rolex in the room.

Nice! I love the gold on the bezel...that is how my BB58 is, and it pairs nicely with my gold wedding ring...

3-4 years ago I could have gotten a used Sub for $5k too, but now in post-covid world the demand has far exceeded supply. The graymarket is completely stupid and out of whack...no way I'm paying 50% over retail for a used piece.

Here's a Seiko 5 .. not a screw down crown and though a great daily wearer.. I had condensation on the inside of the glass.... I just stuck it in a zip lock with a lock of silica gel packs for a few weeks and it seems fine... 100m wr?? not exactly as I think I only wore it in the shower maybe 3 x..... love the lume on this though....

    20220511_112009.jpg

EDIT: So after further inspection I noticed a crack on the glass.. so that may have been where a leak was.. (not sure how that happened.) I'm just going to wear it as is just keep it out of the water

Hey! Just saw this thread. I'm a bit if a built not bought kinda guy. Currently wearing my latest mod. It's kind of a milgauss homage. Seiko nh35 movement on a black explorer style case at 36mm. Took the movement from a broken cased Invicta. Been enjoying so far. Will continue to put up the rest of the creations I've made over time.

Ive been looking into seiko modding lately myself. Right now my hurdle is I only want to build it if I can use what I have in mind for the dial and im having a hard time finding a machine shop to make it. Thatsa damn good looking watch and I like the milgauss idea.

I've been rocking this EcoDrive for 15 years. I like my watches like I like my trucks and bikes, clothes, etc.; used, but not abused. I only take it off when it could be a hazard. It's got a Timex band and the watch body and glass themselves are as scratched as all get out, with a few nicks around the edge. The EcoDrive is a great system, and this watch is on its second capacitor. If yours stops keeping time, but has been receiving light (the second hand will only move every 2 seconds) you probably need a new capacitor. Happens about every 10 years. Not overly complicated to change.
I preferred the 1/5 second 12hr Chrono on my titanium Seiko, but that met an untimely (heh) demise.
