Started out my adult life with a Casio G-Shock. It lasted me through camp outs, job interviews, hurricanes, hiking, white water canoing, you name it. I still have it and it's over 20 years old and running fine. Solar powered and gets updates from the atomic clock. Only problem was that after 20 years the plastic and rubber was pretty knackered.

So I got a Garmin Fitness Watch - Pretty Basic. Loved it and after two years the battery crapped out.

So I got a Garmin Instinct. It has done well and I've enjoyed it. I was at my peak of physical fitness with it and decided I'd take it to the next level and got an Apple watch. My doctor recommended it because it was the only truly reliable heart monitor.

F-Me! Hated the apple watch. That's the dumbest piece of tech I ever strapped on my wrist. I wanted it for the 02 and EKG readings and it does that. But shortly after getting it it started throwing all sorts of issues and errors with my heart. Right back to the doc we go, he runs a full battery of tests puts me on all sorts of heart meds. Can't figure out what's wrong. Finally one day he tells me, "You know... Those fitness watches can't be trusted." Dafuq doc? Admittedly a large part of my displeasure with the Apple Watch is the tiny screen and them putting way too much on it in all of the apps. I'm 8 years post Lasik and 49 years old. My near vision is fading. I can still count the needles on a cactus at 100 yards but require cheaters (lowest possible strength) up close. But that means the Apple Watch it too inaccurate for fitness, too hard to read, and despite putting it on the lowest power settings / minimal apps, I still have to charge it every day.

So I went back to the Garmin Instinct and love it. Right blend of Tech and Rugged and Visible to my eyes.

Trying to earn a tailwheel endorsement out here in South Dakota, it's been alternating between thunderstorms and 25-knot direct crosswinds all weekend.

Got the correct 24-hour bezel insert for my root beer GMT turdle mod and glued a cyclops to the crystal. Still working on finding a two-tone rose gold bracelet with the right end links.

Wind died down a bit out in SoDak and I got that logbook endorsement after 9.9 hours dual instruction and a .2-hour solo zip around the pattern a couple times in a rickety Piper Cub.

Wore a Rolex GMT Master II for a couple decades. When it got to the point that having it serviced exceeded what I paid for it I sold it for more than I had in it. Wear a Luminox now because I can see it at night.

Those end links are hard to find. I've found out that sometimes you can look into a 62mas bracelet and can find one for a decent deal.

Yeah. I got some straight end linked bracelets on their way, we'll see how it looks. I just didn't really want to put a silicone waffle strap on it like you see on every willard-looking case.

Orient Bambino, really impressed with these. Actually these things impress me more than Omega, Rolex and the like. Pretty easy to make a high quality time piece when you are selling it for $3k, impressive when you can do it for $119.00. LOL In house movement, loses maybe 4 seconds a day on average on the wrist. I like it a lot.

Wearing an oldish Seiko chrono… pics often seem to make watches look bigger on my wrist than they do in person….

I'm thinking about picking up an Addies. They seem well loved.

I picked up one of the French paratroop style elastic watch straps, I like the heck out of it. You think it's going to un-clasp itself, but I have been wearing it for the last 2 months, been prefect. I believe it is the most comfortable strap or bracelet I own.
