Went to 3 stores last week to kick tires. Learned that the Datejust 41 doesn't look too large on my wrist compared to my 36. Thought I was in love with the Aqua Terra silver dial on a rubber strap from all the online pictures; bummed out since I thought it would be my next purchase. Once it was on my wrist it just didn't quite do it for me. Saw a Grand Seiko dealer and the Lake Suwa Spring Drive completely stole my attention.

This is one of those dials that you have to see in person to appreciate. It's difficult to photograph and depending on the light and angle it does different things. I can't stop looking at the thing and the sweeping second hand really steals the show. It's not perfect but boy is it impressive. The "5 DAYS" written on the dial is kind of cheesy but so very Japanese. I appreciate that the power reserve is moved to the back of the case.

    Mystery time.

Wife and I were watching an old Humphrey Bogart movie today.

The movie is called the enforcers

We have been trying to figure out what watch he was wearing in the movie.

We have not been able to Google our way to success. If anyone has a clue to what it is, please share.

    TIA

    Kirk

It’s a long shot but sometimes the film credits mention clothing, jewelry & watches but that looks like omega to me.

If the clasp was better on the GS Spring Drive divers, I'd have bought one instead of my SD. Rumor is that GS is coming out with an improved clasp this year.

Can't really go wrong with a Rolex diver!

If we weren't out of town and at my local Rolex AD I would've tried to get my name on the list for a no date sub. I know the GS clasps and bracelets don't get much love, but with the SLGA019 being Titanium, it really contributes to how easy it is to wear.

Believe that is a Cimier Sport Chronograph. Looks like they whited out the brand name possibly?

Nice!!! Grand Seiko is a fantastic watch! X2 about the dials! Viewing them in daylight is amazing!

    Ooooh nice!

I really love the spring drive movement.

I'm a big fan of the GS bamboo forest.

Haha, a dive watch with a bezel so slippery you can't turn it when wet. :rofl:I need a little more grip.

Just yanking your chain, Sea Master is a great watch too thought it's never been my cup of tea.

 I've heard people mention the Omega bezel, and it's never been an issue for me. That said, the deepest I have ever been is maybe 25 feet, so my Speedie would be fine at that depth! As for cups of tea, I do tend to sip from the coaxial cup more than others. And I'm a sucker for a display caseback showing off a movement. :drunk:

See and I’m not a huge fan of display back on dive watches. I did like it on my Sinn though.

I've seen that in person, and photos don't do it justice! Great looking watch!
