My local jeweler has many he services that have had their movements "knocked out of whack" with no case damage. Ive never paid much attention to what particular brands are the most commonly damaged. I'll ask the next time I'm in.

Casio F-91s are not sim round resistant. Buddy had to buy two replacements the week we were at DARC last month cuz he got shot in the watch face on two separate occasions. I was actually surprised at how badly they failed given their reputation.

I respect Omega. I’ve even tried to convince myself to buy one but they just never excite me. It’s like an Android, good product but always playing second fiddle. Or maybe I’m just an Apple guy.

That would be good to know. I don’t shoot anymore so those types of percussions are far and few between.

Same here, except with Rolex in my case. I have an old Rolex that is rotting away in a safe waiting for me to hand it down. Too many people have them, which makes sense as they manufacture more watches than anyone else, so they dont seem as "special" to me.......and my mechanically geeky side really smiles at the co-ax movement..........and the NASA attachment.......and....James Bond. WHO doesnt like James Bond!!

I need to take one of my Wifes watches in for service, so I'll ask questions when I manage to take it over.

I’ve always wanted one too until it came time to buy one. I never could find one that I’d want to wear everyday. Now I’m just trying to get my grandads old Bulova running again so I can wear it sometimes. Pretty sure I’m going to need to swap out the coils. IMG_8868.jpg

We have really old jeweler that actually trained at Bulova back when he started And I’ll get it to him soon. Last I talked to him, he was starting to wind down on taking on the older stuff though. We will see. I’m hoping I can do something simple and get it running again before dropping a few hundred on a full service. Sentimentally it’s worth it but not monetarily.

I get that Rolex argument, it’s kind of the “default” most places. Though I see as many PPs and APs as Rolex in some of my circles haha. I can’t justify spending that type money when I’m hard on things.

I saw two guys next to me at the race who were both wearing Rolex. One guy had a sub but I started to think it was a fake. I'll tell you why and tell me what you think. First, I looked over and it was way off time(by many hours). Then I noticed it wasn't ticking at all. My thinking is that if you are that into watches and had a Rolex at an event like this... you would remember to wind it and have it on time. There was also enough walking at this event to rack up the reserve power.

ANY automatic should have been ticking walking around. The fakes these days, especially for popular Rolex models, are SCARY good. I bought a super clone Submariner before I committed to spending the money on my Sea Dweller. I’ve had Rolex ADs handle it, clean it and were none the wiser.
