I also love cool old clocks! got the Hamilton from my wife’s uncle and the atmos from my grandfather when he passed.
The Hamilton didn’t run when I got it and had been wound tight for who knows how many decades before I got it. I opened up the back to see if there was anything obvious and a light touch of the balance wheel and she started ticking away! Been running fine ever since.

My buddy has a German made cuckoo clock. I had no idea what went into those things you just think of stupid cartoons showing them or whatever. They are an artform for sure.

I’d love to see the inner workings of one of those things too.

For sure. To my knowledge they are all handcrafted so I'm guessing it's like a rolex inside lol

Forgot about this thread for a while. When I’m feeling really nostalgic and plan on wearing jeans with my pocket watch pocket (condom pocket) I’ll wear this old girl. It was given to my dad by one of his great uncles for helping the uncles wife while she was sick for a while. The uncle still had fields to plow and couldn’t be there. My dad was still pretty young then. I’ve got two other pocket watches that are inoperable right now but in the queue for servicing. I may have a horological problem lol.

Thanks, I too am not a fan of the "cyclops", but I really like having the date complication. Tudor makes a nice watch too. I got my Rolex not because it's a Rolex, but because it's durable(should survive even me and be able to be passed down) and it has the most comfortable bracelet and most easily adjustable clasp. I looked at some Pelagos models but didnt like the little springs in the clasp.

I heard the cyclops could be removed? Or have a new sapphire installed that doesn't have the cyclops? I wasn't a fan of a magnifier on a watch lens either.......until age decided to make me need reading glasses.

@Bannerman, I feel the Rolex bracelet altogether feels a bit more comfy than the (in my case) Tudor Pelagos. The springs in the Tudor clasp certainly seem to add a bit of comfort, but the links seem a bit sharper than a Rolex bracelet......if that makes sense

I believe the tapered oyster bracelet helps comfort. I think the Pelagos is the same width all the way through to the clasp but fact check me?

RE: the cyclops, I've heard mixed things on if it can be removed, but for sure you could replace the crystal. I'm not really into "modding" my $12K+ watch though haha. My SeaDweller model was only made for 2-3 years, it's the last SD without the cyclops, last 40mm, first ceramic bezel, first with the mil-sub marks on bezel, first with the glidelock clasp, and one of the only models I know with a matte dial. So I'm not a Rolex guy, but I am a "this specific watch guy." :rofl:99.9999% of people just think it's another submariner, but that's why it's cool. IYKYK

The Pelagos bracelet tapers a couple millimeters or so. I think it 22mm at the case, and 18 mm at the clasp. Im not wearing it now, but will check the next time I wear it. I completely agree with the "this specific watch" comment!! I feel the EXACT way with my Seamaster in that i always wanted one, but not a polished case, and a no date. Then one day I find the Titanium/Ceramic and I had to have it. I enjoy all watches, but moreso the story of why the person wearing it likes that particular watch, just like what you said above.

    Specifically, a T-54

Manufactured at the Chelyabinsk Clock Factory in the late 50's and early 60's these clocks were foremost produced for the Soviet tank the T-54 as well as for the Soviet aviation industry. A certain percentage of production was also earmarked for civilian domestic consumption and the clocks were given incredible acrylic housings to grace Soviet homes and offices.
