    Danger! Slippery slope.
    I started by buying watches I liked then my family started getting them for me. Next I wanted better straps for some of them, which brought me to leather working. Then I wanted watches that I could never afford or that didn't exist, so I got into watch making. About 50 watches later, I still look at new watches and go "hmmm, maybe one more".

    Nice! I didn't know they made a solar powered smartwatch.

    I have a Skyhawk from my cutter days that's my 'desert island' watch, but it's just a analog+digital multi timezone.

    It's semi-smart. No connectivity to my phone or GPS. I think they have a bluetooth connected solar watch, but I haven't looked at it.

    I have a Navihawk that's always on my wrist when I travel. Another gift from my wife.

    I hear ya. I would need a magnifying glass to work the slide rule. I have a hard enough time re-setting the watch when replacing the battery.
    They make a self-setting solar version, but this one is special to me.

    Today I'm giving my Comex Folex a bit of wrist time. It's a COMEX dial modded to a DSSD case.
    The bigger cases still use the same size dials, so you can add vintage dials from the older subs.

    Can't stand braclets (rips out wrist hair), can;t stand the smell that leather bands get after a while. Sticking with nylon/synthetic bands...can be washed when the start to get whiffy.

    How do you keep leather straps from stinking?
