Hello All I am still helping to rebuild the neighbors 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 engine for him.

I noticed that its missing a water bipass hose but i have no idea which one this is. I have looked at charts and web etc i cant figure it out.

I was wondering if you guys knew which hose this is that im missing and where it goes from the bi pass.

    thanks guys

My 96 2.4L had a coolant hose to the EGR valve, another from there to the IAC valve, and another from there back to the coolant tube.

I wish i knew the part name or part #. I called my local dealership and they were very unhelpful. I wonder which is it. I am getting so pissed at this truck. I have put so much energy/time/funds into it. I just want to be done and the cooling system is the last thing i believe.

When they go to search for the part number, ask them to pull up the diagrams so you can see them, and pick out the hose that you're talking about. I did that with the union on the rear diff and many other parts when I can't explain where they are

Yes, those look like the correct hoses, but I can't tell you which of the 3 is the correct one.

If you enter the VIN at toyotapartsdeal.com and look under Engine/Fuel/Tool > Radiator & Water Outlet, they should be listed as Hose, Water By-Pass; Hose, Water By-Pass, NO.2; and Hose, Water By-Pass, NO.3.

It is almost impossible to see these hoses in the engine as it is covered with the intake manifold. However I gad pictures taken during gead gasket job and there is something over there:

So here is the pipe visible on the rear cylinder head cover going to the side

    pipe1.jpg

Another view on the other end of this hose

    pipe2.jpg

Picture taken today at the same end:

    pipe3.jpg

So it seems this is water bypass going from the rear cylinder head cover and throttle body. My FSM doesn't show the hose, only the rear cylinder head cover.

Thank you for the pictures I will try and see which hose fits there. I think that is the same spot, but like you said its pretty hard to see when the valve cover is on.
I went ahead and ordered all three hoses off the above link, so one of them has to fit right????

Ok I got all of the hoses. I marked them and took pics for anyone else who may need them.
I will also try and take some pics of getting them in when i do.

I had the same 3 part numbers. Here are a few images that might help you orient the hoses correctly.

Yes that's where I was thinking it needed to go. Thank you for the pics.
I am going to try and fit my hands in there and see if i cant fit it on. I really really do not want to take it all apart again.

You know, if you bought all three, might as well replace them all...

Ok, I'm pretty excited about finally finding some info about this. I've been looking everywhere! I just finished a head gasket replacement and this is one of my final missing pieces. So the rear head cover runs a coolant line to the IAC, the IAC bypasses to the EGR, and then the EGR runs back to the coolant pipe?

That's about right. I can't remember exactly where these small hoses connect to the bigger coolant pipes, but it should be easy to find the connecting points as you're assembling things.
