I just recently re-placed my by-pass pipe with the revised metal unit. I have a 2011 TT, I had no signs of any coolant leak, I just did for piece of mind since I just hit 224K.
Miraculously the plastic pipe was in dam good shape. Not brittle at all and still very serviceable. It still boggles my mind why manufactures take the cheap route. The shop that
performed the work constantly works on Porsche and they replace plastic parts all the time. Also, can someone explain to me the little metal mesh on the TB gasket? I replaced it with
a gasket without that crap. Truck runs perfect!

I had the same mesh on the old. Dealer said gasket without mesh was a updated part. My old plastic pipe was fine as well, I just feel better with the stainless one in there.

Bringing this back from the dead the o ring style gasket, can it be reused? I've got a brand new engine I need to do this on but I sure as fuck don't want to buy yet another gasket it's never been started or run it's just sitting on there

Assuming your engine has a plastic pipe and you're switching it out for metal, it cannot be. The metal pipe has a different sealing surface than the plastic pipe. Plastic takes an O ring, metal takes this metal crush type gasket.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KTII9MO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    That's what you need.

Although I'm confused, why does a brand new engine have the plastic bypass pipe? Shouldn't it be metal since they stopped using that plastic pipe over ten years ago?

It's a rebuild neither the builder nor myself knew they changed it. Old one was still good. I was referring to the intake manifold. I have the new gasket for the metal guy. It's already done and going in the truck right now

Besides the parts below, does anyone have the part numbers for intake gasket, throttle body gaskets and rear PCV hose that goes from the hard line to the rear of the intake manifold?
Any other recommendations to take care of why I have this all apart?
    2005 2.7 5speed.

    Thanks in advance.

This intake manifold gasket for my 2006 2.7L 5-speed is the only part I have bought for when I replace my coolant by-pass pipe but got a good price about a year ago, so hopefully I will have all the parts so I can replace it this year.

I have a 2006 2TRFE and I bought a replacement gasket for the throttle body. The replacement one that got in the mail (Mahle Part Number G32143, which is also the Toyota part number, I think.) had the steel mesh on it but it did not fit, so I compared the old one to the new one and realized that the new one had a smaller diameter. I tried installing the new one thinking that maybe it was supposed to stretch a bit before it would fit. I was wrong, ended up tearing the new one trying to get it to fit. So I ended up using the old one cuz it was still good. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Maybe get one of the newer gaskets that don't have the steel mesh?

This is the OEM throttle body gasket you want to use: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyo...=B00IGCSZYM&psc=1&refRID=49J2TQWECHTTMNZQMM0Q

    Edit - OEM part # 22271-0D051

Thanks for the heads up Markcal! Just outta curiosity, do you know what purpose the steel mesh serves?

    A thing or two...
Whenever I'm looking for factory part numbers, I go here: https://parts.villagetoyota.com/Toyota__Tacoma.html You have to dig around, but they have all the part drawings so you can find what you need. I usually end up ordering from www.toyotapartsdeal.com.

When I cleaned my throttle body last year, I had the same problem. I picked up a Felpro gasket from Autozone, and it was too small even though the Felpro website say that it fits. I bought a new gasket from the dealership, and it didn't have the metal mesh.

The new intake gasket revision doesn’t have the mesh. Edit: OEM Toyota

I would absolutely change out used intake gaskets mine had 8 years on them and were flattened out. I’d guess they would have a hard time sealing.

Hey everyone, I appreciate all the info. on this post. I’m going thru the same issue. Mine’s leaking from the front near the thermostat housing. Just got off the phone with my local Toyota dealer. They want roughly $400 for 4 hours of labor to do this. I have a new stainless bypass pipe in hand and wondering if I should just go for it. Can anyone tell me if there’s any crazy tools I would need to remove the intake and fuel hoses, etc?

Paulie44 There are no crazy tools at all. Just need a socket wrench set with some deep sockets and maybe an extension and that's it. It's fairly easy and simple. Make sure you get the OEM toyota bypass hose. The first one I bought was from Amazon and the flange thickness was off by an 1/8" and the part could not be tighten down properly. Cheers!

I just went to the seller on Amazon that is selling the TB gasket I posted a link for and looked at all the vehicles it fits. It shows it fitting the 2006-2008 Tacoma with the 2.7L engine and your 2005 isn't listed. I know when I was looking on Amazon, I used the feature that lets you enter your vehicle type and on my year/make it fits, so make sure you always use that so you know it fits.

Sorry You bought the wrong TB gasket. :(

EDIT - I should not have taken it for granted that because it fit my 2006 it would fit your 2005.

Thanks, Ended up just getting it from the dealership. As stated earlier, it did not come with the mesh that the original had.
This job took me around 3 hours and I am an amuture. A few tips that may hopefully help someone down the road.

    1. Drain your coolant prior to attempting this. I made a huge mess, ended up washing a lot of antifreeze down the driveway with a hose. Hopefully no kitties died in the process.
    2. Buy the correct parts. I tried to go with a cheap pipe on Amazon that was about 1/3 what the dealer wanted. It did not fit right, had to use a hammer to get it into place.
    3. Don't forget to disconnect the connection on back of the intake manifold near the firewall.
