Thanks bud. I think it’s a very common problem which Toyota acknowledged as they changed the pipe to steel. I’d get it out the way as preventative maintenance. Mines just over 160000km and was brittle and leaking already

We are approaching winter here in the Northeast with some cold temperatures and without a garage to replace the pipe, spring with warmer temperatures will be when I plan to replace it, if it holds out till then. :fingerscrossed:

Just keep a close eye on the coolant level and you should be good to go

I need to do mine now. I was just checking where hoses went, trying to figure out what hoses I could easily replace as preventative maintenance and I barely touched/wiggled the upward barb/nipple or whatever you call it along the firewall and it busted.. . at least it didn't do it on the road or somewhere other than at home.

any recommendation of other P#s to replace other than the pipe and subsequent gasket that goes with it?
    Hoses? PVC lines?
Anyone have the P#s for the soft lines that come off of the Heater core?
I find this site and others that run off the same Toyota listings a little ambiguous https://parts.camelbacktoyota.com/v...l4-gas/hvac--evaporator-and-heater-components

    pipe 16268-75130
    pipe gasket 16258-75021
    intake manifold gasket 17177-75040

    intake manifold TB seal 22271-0D051

I plan on doing the Valve cover gasket, spark plug gasket, spark plugs, PCV
    valve cover gasket 11213-75041
    spark plug gasket 11214-75012
    PCV valve 12204-0C010
Radiator cap (seal feels and looks crusty), Upper and lower radiator hoses(look original)

I'm picking up like 25 parts from my local dealer, the one in the link, for $10.00. So almost free shipping if you pickup. I even ordered a new front grille.

I will check my local dealer im sure their price is more than $10 though. Even the metal bypass pipes China is selling are $13 i might order one just to see what the quality is like Toyota may have outsourced them to China. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Toyota...30-16268-75110/173853499067?fits=Model:Tacoma

Dude... . It's not $10 for the pipe. I ordered a bunch of parts thru the website and it's $10 for them to collect and store the parts until I pick them up. They have to pay for shipping stuff to them if they don't have it in stock so it's essentially a shipping and processing charge.

While I don't dispute that there may be an issue with the water pipe, there is no logic to support your assumption that a "problem" has been in any way "acknowledged" based on a part being changed. Improving something does not necessarily mean that there was something wrong with what is being improved upon.

To spin the concept to its extremes, the biggest difference between the 2005-2015 models and the 2016+ is a minor change to the shape of the body panels. Does the fact that they changed the shape of the body panels imply that Toyota has "acknowledged" that there was a problem with the body panel shape?

odd argumentative line there. The plastic parts that bolt to the engine and transmission fail randomly. some experience it as little as 60K miles in my very short amount of research. Manifold removal is not easy. This part was not meant to be changed out like a typical coolant line.

oh, so you wanted people to respond with something outlandish like your body style comment and not made from common sense deduction or Engineering prowess?

No. I expect that if people want to have a civilized conversation, that they actually make an attempt to understand what they are responding to before they put their foot in their mouth as you have.

ahhh. seems like your signature(quoted below) supports my assumption that you like to troll a bit but don't like responses to your trolling. got it. that was your first POST in the thread.. . interesting

@pwrslide2 dont even bother responding to this guy. He goes all over the forums and makes comments like these just to start shit. Best to just ignore folks like this. Obviously toyota saw the problem with the plastic pipes and made the change to metal ones around 2010. No point in debating that with this guy. Toyota didnt upgrade them to steel bc that would help their bottom line lol. They did it to cover their own ass
