    I wouldn't really say it creates a vacuum. More like could create. Every time I pulled mine off the diff was pressurized.

    Also OP if you are worried about water in the diff just pop off the fill plug and see if anything pours out. If not its probably fine. Or stick your finger in there and make sure it looks like clean fluid and not milky fluid.
