I have a 2000 toyota tacoma 3.4l v6 4x4. Lately I have been getting poor mileage (less than normal) and water dripping from exhaust pipe. starts dripping after start up and been idle for awhile even more after I drive it then let it idle. I've replaced the water pump, coolant, oil, spark plugs, spark plug wires not to long ago. Also has a ticking when hot and at idle. Doesn't over heat temp doesn't go higher than maybe a quarter inch lower from the red zone which is the highest I've seen it go other than when my thermostat was bad which it was replaced with the water pump. Truck is well maintained yet driven NOT pushed. I love this truck I want to fix it myself. I don't do dealerships sometimes I think I know more then they do up to a point. Never noticed any smoke coming out of exhaust of any color. Does smell like its running rich. Also a few years ago I bought a universal cold air intake kit from advanced auto put it together and installed on my truck 2. Check engine light is always on so idk if theirs a problem with the cold air intake system because its not programmed. Have been to autozone a few times for this and all it says is fuel/air system bank 1 is running lean, bad o2 sensor. Also does the computer need to be programmed for cold air intake systems. I know this is a long thread so problems are water from exhaust pipe, ticking sound from motor, check engine light on, battery light on for 2 years now idk y, and universal cold air intake. Please help me out I need this fixed asap.

Water is just condensation. It's totally normal.

Get a new fuel filter, clean the MAF and TB and put some sea foam through it.

And hello..replace the O2 sensor if the code is being thrown.

there is a a heater/ac condenser dump/downturn coming out of the firewall above the header/exhaust pipe on my truck that drips pretty good when i have been driving around with the heater or AC running...

first time i noticed it, it threw me off as the water drips from the turndown pipe, hits the header/exhaust flange, and drips to the ground from there...

by the appearance of the pipe, i wonder if maybe there was a hose on it at some point to redirect the water, but with all the wheeling i do, hard to tell what has fallen off my truck over the years...

Burn Gas - get CO NOx and H20 - very normal - I have had a guy pass me at ~130-140 on the road. My windshield was misted. When the lights went on the Patrol car that was chasing him, he hit the center divider and rolled and burst in to flames. I felt the intense heat 8 lanes away. The cop, who probably was burned from head to toe, pulled the guy from the car while it was on fire. The guy was very lucky. Very stupid (stupied) but very lucky.

The bad 02 sensor is going to have something to do with your mileage for sure. And aftermarket intakes can too. It's not uncommon for the oil from the air filter to get sucked into the intake system which puts a film of oil on the MAF sensor. Then it gives false readings resulting in less than ideal running, check engine lights, etc. Thankfully they are easy to remove and clean with MAF cleaner. Fix what the truck is telling you is broken (02 sensor) and clean the MAF regardless and see where you're at. Condensation in the exhaust is normal. Especially if you make a lot of short trips.

How often does a fuel filter need changed because i replaced it a year or 2 ago and ran seafoam months ago cant hurt to do it again. I'll have to go back to autozone to get another reading to know for sure when i do ill repost another reply to my thread of the codes. These trucks arent exactly cheap to repair but there worth fixing. I cannot find one even close like mine in a junkyard so parts are online or part store. As for all the problems ive listed i wanted to know if it was just one problem or multiple obviously multiple. Also ive never seen this much water come out of an exhaust pipe from any vehicle. When i get some money in i know a guy that will do my whole exhaust system pipes and sensors for a good price. Get seafoam and cleaner for the sensors but I heard from a "mechanic" that you cant clean the tb or the maf i don't know if this is true. I have a list of stuff i gotta do on top of the exhaust. I really need to find a snorkel cause a cold air intake filter isnt working out for what i do. My brake pads and struts are lifetime warranty so that helps a lot. I want to know your opinions on the raybestos brake rotors. Autozone prices are $87 a piece for the rotors, Upper ball joints $12/each, lower ball joints $33/each, o2 sensors $70/each.

Snorkel doesn't replace a filter.. AFE makes a great dry filter.

You have to be careful when clean the MAF but yes it's possible. As is the TB. Just have to take it off..

Exhaust will help a bit too. The O2 sensor is probably a big issue tho.

Fuel filter is like once every 100k or more.

I'd use Moog parts for the BJs.

if water drips from your exhaust it means you engine is actually good. nothing to worry about. i'd service it if you havent in a while to get MPG's back..

I'm saying a snorkel would be better for me when im offroading never know when you gotta cross water or go through mud but the cheapest snorkel system ive found is over $400 bucks. Fuel filter is not that hard to replace. I am a Moog parts fan i have there tie rod ends for my steering rack bought them lifetime warranty 5 years ago. I can get all 4 moog ball joints for about $200 on partstrain.com. When your talking bout cleaning the TB do you mean take off the whole unit clean it and put back together? Wouldn't i need new gaskets?

Just on the TB. Not full intake. Just 4 bolts I think. Gasket would be like 3 bucks probably.

Snorkels are more for dust then water and mud crossings. If that's what your worried about, your air intake is the least of your issues. But yes they are pricey, small market for them.

Yes just 4 bolts on the TB i wouldnt take the whole intake off just for that. So as far as anything like dust, mud, water, and other what would be a good air filter set up? If too much water gets sucked up it kills my motor. Dust build up overtime cuts air flow and mud getting caked on it. i clean my spectre filter at least twice a month or after everytime i get back home from a fun day in the trails. Its almost better off staying on the street where i dont have to clean the filter as much...f*** that i got a truck for a reason haha. I like off road not street.

Get a stock intake again and an AFE filter. It's a reusable dry filter you'll never need a new one again as you can wash it. Then do the deck plate mod. Put the plate in when it's muddy and wet out or super dusty. Take out for hwy stuff. It works just as good as any CAI

I still have the stock air box, new filter, and part where the maf sensor connects to. I dont have the stock hose or extra plastic pieces it had. Do you think its possible to customize that piece with what i got now? It would be stock air box with a tube going to the throttle body. The dry filter is a good idea i think i seen a k&n replacement for the stock filter at autozone. I'll have to cut the tube to size which should be right above where the maf sensor is now. If you need pictures i can put some up so you can see what i mean.
