What’s the best way to drain bad gas from my 3rd gen taco?
I know I can’t siphon it from the filler neck and I know that I can’t jump the fuel pump relay. So is my only option to have a shop with a Scan tool turn the pump on to drain the tank?

You could try gas line antifreeze, depending on how bad it is. It allows the water to break down and pass through the system and burn it off. Once you have run through a couple of clean tanks with fuel antifreeze, change the filter.

I'm also wondering how you know you have water in your fuel tank.

just try to burn as much fuel as possible before filling up again. maybe get a gas container and drive until it says range:0. or just drive it until it dies, not great for the fuel pump but i don't think running out of gas once is going to kill it.

While I appreciate the troubleshooting help, what I’m really asking for is technical help draining the fuel tank.

Unless there is something you're not telling us, the odds of there being so much fuel in your tank to prevent the engine from starting are pretty slim.

Do 3rd gen fuel pumps not kick on when the key is in the ON position? If anything pull the bed, that'll give you access to the tank. From there you can siphon most of it out from a disconnected fuel hose I'd think.

If the filler neck was submerged and the cap leaked, you surely had water in cab and possible ECU damage?

Drill a hole in the tank, drain it, seal the hole. Quick and simple.

If you bought contaminated gas wouldn’t the station be responsible for the repairs? That is the way it works here.

The fuel tank on modern automobiles is sealed quite well to prevent greenhouse emissions. There are a ton of other reasons high water might have affected your engine negatively. Unless you have reason to believe there is water in your gas tank, I would start with other potential causes.

In any case, I suspect the best way to drain your gas tank is to remove it, turn it upside down, and let gravity do its work. Some sort of pump might work too, but I think there is a screen in the filter tube to present foreign material and siphoning tubes.
