Enclosed is a photo with and arrow pointing to where my leak is. If I take water and pour it into that opening behind the fender , I get water into the compartment. It's right along the edge.

I can not tell where the origin is due to all the clutter , but its near the top. This truck has water penetration issues. I've already re-done the windsheild from top down. Worse case of leaks I've ever seen but the truck has had no accidents. Fortunately the truck was stored in a garage so the floor is still solid.

Anyway, it looks like I need to remove the fender. Is there a good video that shows step by step how to do that ? Do I need to remove the front bumper ?

I thought about pouring some por 15 into that space but it probably would be better to remove the fender to see what's going on behind it.

    Thanks

    Lou

I would try some white caulk first.

I had a quart of Fiberglass resin so I used some of that. Still no success. I've ordered some white seam sealer and I'll try that where the seams are located that I can reach. It's not around the windshield but somewhere lower. That Fender is no picnic to remove so I'm going to try everything before I resort to that.

    Thanks,

    Lou

I had an issue similar to this with my Camry. It was leaking at a seam in the trunk area. I tried a few different approaches but what finally worked for me was a couple spray cans of Flex Seal. They even have it it tape form so you can put it exactly where you want it.

After a few years I did have to reapply it but worked great.
Good luck op. Let us know how it turn out.

He may have been suspecting same thing I am: is it possible that water is running down onto something like your hood cable, and the grommet for the hood cable has come out of the cowl? Hood cable is just an example. Get under the dash with a flashlight and make sure anything passing through to the engine compartment is sealed.

    Hi,

Yes, I suspected that early on and keep going back to it. On mine it's a large grommet with a smaller opening for the hood cable sheathing. At first I thought it was the grommet and squirted water directly onto to it and no water came through. It's above that point. The only thing above it is the metal lip where the two pieces of sheet metal come together. I'm leaning towards something going on there. There's an intersection of sheet metal with seam sealer smeared all over it on the outboard side. My next try is to smear a bead a seam sealer along the inside of the drain trough intersection and other places that look suspect and go from there.

The water was running slowly down over that large grommet and reforming as a single bead at the bottom of the grommet. That's why at first I thought it was the Grommet. The leaks are so scattered at times it would appear that they are coming through in multiple places along that sheet metal seam. I don't see anyplace else. There are no rust holes. My white seam sealer should be here in a couple of days and I'll give an update then

    Thanks for all the advice.

    Lou

Did you add anything to thicken the resin?

I added only the hardener. It sets up pretty quick. I don't think I put it where the problem is. It just went down and into a catch pan.

That's kinda what I was thinking- that it would just run down and out somewhere, it's pretty vicious unless you add a thickening agent (filler, etc...) to it...

Here's a drawing where I think the leak is originating. When I force water up and out through that seam then I get water in the cab. The water has to get high enough to enter that seam and then it leaks through that seam back into the cab. It then drips down over that large grommet. If the water stays below the seam I get no water. At least that's part of the problem so I'll start there and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure that's how its constructed at that seam.

Where is water collecting inside the cab? Is it the passenger side floorboard?

I need to pull the carpet up on the passenger side to check . Right now it is the worst on the driver's side just above the large grommet where an electrical block is located. I've pulled the carpet up on the driver's side and pulled the drain plug.

I just pulled the passenger carpet and it looks like it's the same problem. It was wet. Coming from the same place. It's wet right at the bottom front. Why am I having this problem if no one else is ? I'm glad this truck was stored in a garage all these years.

I have a water leak around the grommet where the wiring comes into the cab as well, on the driver's side. If that grommet isn't sealed tight then water will work its way in, especially if you're driving through rain. Mine is because I was lazy and fed wiring around the grommet instead of through it, breaking the seal so now water leaks through.

Water on the passenger side is usually indicative of a clogged AC drain line, I've heard it's pretty common and results in water leaking into the passenger side of the cab.

Have you verified that the air conditioning's condensation drain is not plugged?

Others do have water in the cab issues, particularly, water under the floorboard carpeting, when that drain is plugged. The condensate has nowhere to go and overflows and runs down the inside of the firewall.

Ha ! Okay, I'll add that to my list. It's leaking when it rains. I don't have it covered.

Water leaked into my 2014 TRD SPORT via a leaking windshield(right after I had the windshield replaced) Water ran down the inside of the drivers side and on to the wiring harness shorting out the entire system.
The just totaled my truck today and it is in extremely good condition.IMG_8674_LI.jpg
