It came down the A-piller and dripped from under the dash. They never put the drain tube in.

OP, sounds like I have the same water leak as you. The rain goes down the driver's side window, and drips onto the back of the speaker inside the door. Then it comes out through the speaker grille and onto the floormat. Happens only when it rains heavily, but it ends up leaving a reasonable size puddle on the floormat.

Look inside the speaker grille on the door panel with a flashlight next time you have water and see if that is wet. The little holes hold water and it's pretty obvious.

Anyone ever figure out where these leaks are coming from?

I never noticed any water on my floor before (at least in the front...) but today after a heavy rain I had a huge puddle on my driver’s side floor mat and water draining all over the wiring behind the dash. The fuse box cover had water in it, the computer back there had water all over it, all the connectors and wiring were all wet.

I pulled all the trim, and it’s coming from the somewhere above the headliner. There was water behind the A-pillar trim and the sheath on the curtain airbag was damp.

I do have a sunroof, I poured about 36 oz of water down the sunroof and it drained and I didn’t see it leak anywhere with all the trim removed. I blew out the drain with an air hose.

I do not have any light bars, roof rack, or anything else on the roof.

Since I’ve never noticed a leak before, and we’ve had some large storms recently, what would cause a sudden leak?

I suspect it’s the roof rail trim, but I don’t know where to begin sealing that.

    2009 Tacoma Double Cab
I have a 2009 Double Cab (no sun roof) and live in New England where the trucks all look like french fries from the salted roads in the winter. I had the frame replacement in May 19 due some rotted cab supports and shortly thereafter started to experience water dripping down from the dash on the drivers side to the point it would fill up that little flip down coin bucket. I checked the firewall, the door gaskets, took off dash trim. The source of the leak was not obvious but had to be from the top of the cab. I removed the A Pillar trim and noticed a couple of drips so I left that trim off and dumped a 5 gallon bucket of water on the cab. No immediate leaks until i grabbed the head liner and got a dump of water. The headliner backing is a stiff waterproof plastic tray. I pried the headliner down and saw water dripping from the pinch weld/windshield area. So it was time to remove the windshield and check for some rust.
I used the cable tool to cut the windshield off and sure enough there was about 16" of moderate to lightly rusted pinch weld. During a heavy rain the water was running behind the rubber molding and then down and under the urethane that hold the glass on. It then collected in the headliner until it overflowed and traveled down the inside of the A pillar to the dash trim and then down inside the dash to the floor. I removed the rust, primed and painted the pinch weld and then replaced the windshield with a new moulding. Time consuming but relatively simple and no more leak!

Shout out to Toyota for the frame replacement, I did buy the extended warranty but this was well after that expired.

Note that the windshield moulding does a great job of hiding the extent of the rust until you tear it out, but then there is no going back.

This is where the leak appears in the cab dripping off the bottom of the dash.

I'm sure this type of cab leak could occur on the passengers side if the rust started on that side

So I’m at Safelite now because I had the same issue and as timing would have it, not long after the windshield replacement. So what it is, the plastic piece that runs along your windshield, there’s a crappy factory seal that they use on the passenger side, above the cabin filter area. That seal goes bad and let’s water in, I park at a slight pitch and it runs the water down the channel to the driver side and it leaks from there. The tech here uses a better sealant and it’s all good. Man do I feel like a jackass haha. But easy fix. To be clear the exterior trim where the windshield wipers are.

    2019 Tacoma Dbl Cab
    None
I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro Dbl Cab and it has been leaking water from under the dash on the drivers side. First time to the dealer it was said the A/C Drain was plugged and they blew it out and it checked 4.0. Leak continued. Leaks when it is sitting outside in the rain parked in driveway which is at a slight incline. Even a heavy dew results in a puddle of water on the driver side mat. Took it today and they have determined that it is the factory installed windshield that is leaking. Dealer warranty expired last month but the Service dude said they are going to take care of it because it was reported prior to warranty expiration ; they are having the windshield resealed but have to get glass company to come in and do it.

My 2019 tacoma trd offroad also has mysterious leaking - in the front driver and passenger side in 2021
and in 2023 in the cab, area between door and seat again both sides.
The first leak was apparently due to sunroof gutters, and now looking into this new leak.
Dealing with mold and electrical issues less than 2 years into a very expensive brand new truck deeply annoying.
    Now looking into legal action

I'm investigating the same thing tonight. Just bought this truck a month ago. Appears all stock. Does Toyota engrave their emblem on the windshield? Not sure if this one hss been replaced.
