LOL, why are you being such a dick about this ? are you part of windshield union local 101 and sticking up for your brothers ? For your information the reason I was " standing there " is because the guy told me when he started he needed my help removing the old windshields and lifting the new windshields into place. He didn't fuck it up because I was there - he fucked it up because he didn't know what the fuck he was doing.

So today I pulled the cowl to check to see if anything obvious shows up. Looks like a pretty crappy design of the air intake as it's a big opening right under the cowl on the passenger side. I cleaned and reinstalled the cowl and seals but one thing I noticed is the lower windshield seal that is attached to the cowl does not seal to the windshield right over the air opening. There is a trough that the water should flow through to the drain. I doubled checked my install of the cowl multiple times to make sure the little tabs are aligned right under the window. But the cowl and seal will not sit tight to the windshield. I know absolutely nothing about windshields. Is it possible that either the plastic cowl is deformed by the windshield technician or is it possible the windshield curve isn't quite right? Pic posted below if you can make out the area. You will see a darker black line right off the windshield. That's the gap I'm talking about.IMG_0605.jpg

yes it is entirely possible that the curve is not right. I had the same prob, both upper and lower corners flattened out and none of that trim fit right.

I made a flashing to cover the air intake opening so no water gets in.

I saw that. I do like it but my issue is it didn't leak before. So now it appears that there is an issue with the way the seal doesn't seat against the windshield right above that area. I very well might make a shield, but if it was done correctly, I wouldn't have to.

I live in Washington State where we see lots of rain and in the almost 3 years I've owned the truck water has leaked in 2-3 times. It takes just the right combo of rainfall, slope you are parked on, any debris in channel, etc. The channel on mine was totally debris free but water was still finding it's way in. It's quite likely the windsheild replacement is the source of your problem. But then again maybe not. Could it be a coincidence on the timing of the leak? My truck is black so I frequently wash my truck. Water blasting on the truck from the garden hose doesn't seem to make it leak. Sitting outside in the rain under just the right conditions does.

I'm starting to think it's because the lower windshield seal is about an 1/8" away from the windshield right over the cab air intake. That gap is probably 10-12" long. That seal should be laying against the windshield

I'll never use Safelite again, after I had a windshield replaced years ago, it leaked, and then got replaced 2 more times. Still leaked in a hard rain when I traded it in on my taco.

Talking to the first guy, he only got $15 per job, no wonder they rush it.

I am getting my windshield replaced on Friday. I chose not to go with Safelite because of the horrible job they did on my Mitsubishi. Had to get 3 replacements before I got one that didn't have waves in it. The first two were made by Safelite and the 3rd was a different aftermarket manufacturer. No problems with it.

The company I chose said I will receive a windshield made by Pilkington. I've read that is a pretty good brand. Will report back if I experience and leaks or other issues.
