I was reading another forum that a Toyota tech mentioned
that the weep hole was designed to remove debris .If it is
just very small amounts then water pump replacement is not necessary.
Suggesting a flush and refill.Has anybody had any experience with this?

Mine was trickling out, not enough to drip, but left a thin line of pink crystals down the engine block. Dealership replaced the water pump under drivetrain warranty.

I find that hard to believe. I always thought that the weep hole was on the outer side of the bearing after the seal. IMO, if you see a drip, you have a problem.

I have never heard such a statement. The weep hole was an indication of pump
failure so I thought. But I am use to working on hot rods.

I wouldn't want that guy working on my vehicle(s). How can a hole remove debris?

Maybe he thinks it's there for debris to escape? If so, guess what else can escape? Coolant is a fluid and fluids flow more easily than debris and like electricity, will always seek the path of least resistance.

If you're seeing leakage at the weep hole, it's a matter of time before the water pump dies. It could take awhile, but it will eventually happen.

Seal is going bad if leaking from the weep hole.
