I'm getting ready to replace my timing belt on a '99 Tacoma and am given the choice of a water pump w/ or w/o a thermostat bypass tube. Is that the tube that comes out of the water pump and hidden behind the dip stick?
    Thanks

Save yourself some added labor, get it with the tube.

    Yes, yes it is.
It's not a bypass, it's a coolant line for the engine oil cooler if equipped.

You have to compress the tensioner regardless of whether you replace the tensioner.
A/c compressor removal is a given.
That tube is a bypass, it is part of all of the pumps, the oil cooler has a T that comes off that coolant line .

False, on V6 engines that did not come with the oil cooler there is no "tube" on the water pump or any provision to install one.

Thanks for the help...I tried to take a photo but it didn't come out. I have figured out that I have a bypass tube and will be installing the kit as soon as it's delivered.
    Thanks again.
