A couple month again I noticed while I was cleaning and taking the passenger side mat out there was water under the mat. I have no idea where it came from. I used a few paper towels and it seemed instantly dry. I checked a few weeks later and it is dry. I have not checked the past several weeks and I did today, and it is wet again. I used 2 paper towels and it feels dry again. The water in between the tape marks in the pics. There is no feel of any damp/water past the tape marks. Any ideas?

Since your signature doesn't say where geographically you are located, but I don't see any snow in your pic, have you been using your A/C lately? Possible your condensate line is clogged, and backing up and running condensation water into your passenger side footwell. Happened to me on my Subaru Outback.

Has the windshield ever been replaced? Check if it has a Toyota stamp on it.

Upstate NY, I would say its probably windshield leak if its plain water.

It's clear water. So you think I should have my windshield resealed?

What about the plugs in the undercarriage?

Highly unlikely since water gravitates to the path of least resistance sonunless you took your taco in for a dip in the local pond...

check around the dash and windshield seals for pooling/dampness.

Make sure all your passengers check thier water bottles at the doors lol...there will be no liquids allowed in this vehicle!

    Pretty much stock right now
There is a common leak spot on the firewall, on a pinch weld I think. I've got it, but not done anything about it yet. I don't know which would be worse, windshield or firewall. Probably easier to do the window seal.

Get a hose, have your chick, friend, brother, lover sit in the cab and wait for it while you spray the windshield and maybe even the firewall area.

more times than not it is the evaporator drain. Take the floor mats out and look under the glove box and you will see the evaporator case. The lowest point is where the drain tube connects. Take a bunch of towels with you while under there... wiggle the rubber hose off and see if water comes out, if it does thats why you have the towels there. Take the hose off and verify that it is clear. If you park under trees leaves will fall into the air intake grill and be pulled into the evap core and plug the drain. When it cant drain fast enough the water will build up inside the evap case and eventually it will leak out where it can.

I have a post about this #15983602 I wish I knew how to link you to it... pictures are self explanitory.

thread with a bunch of links to threads discussing leaks in the cab

if you can't pinpoint where it is coming from, it may be a windshield leak. Because of the plastic panels and trim, it is unseen but the result is water seemingly appearing from nowhere ending under the carpet.
It's what happened to me. I spotted it as I had removed all the plastic trim and panels of the cab for restoration purposes. It would enter from driver's side upper corner of windshield then drip along the A pillar (behind the plastic panel with the handle), then side of cab, between dash and wall, then behind kick panel, ending onto the floor. Luckily, it was just a small leak. Glad I caught it while it was still small.

When water gets into the cab through a windshield leak, it means that the urethane glue stuff used to glue the windshield to the cab is either dried up or it was improperly done (not necessarily the shop's fault, as it's not easy to get it right on first try). Then the external rubber gasket molding thing around the windshield should be changed as well, as it allowed water in too, reaching the windshield's glue seam

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Check all the grommets on the firewall. I had this problem, turned out an antenna cable was run through one. I removed it, problem fixed.
But in my reseach I found a Toyota TSB, on the fix for a leak there from a bad pich weld.

Will check it out tomorrow night..We have had lots of rain/snow over the past 2 months, but sometimes it stays dry. Funny thing is I had the AC on last week for 10 minutes, maybe that is it. Will check AC, firewall, windshield

If you have the climate control set to defrost your AC is also on.

My wet passenger side carpet was due to a clogged evaporator drain plug.

The simplest diagnostic is to check to see if your evaporator box is filled with water, if it is then your drain plug is clogged. It's located on the firewall in the passenger side footwell. Here's a picture of it (you can see the drain/plug exiting through the firewall). Give it a gentle shake, if you hear sloshing, it has water in it.

    photo-10-6.jpg

If it's clogged, find the drain plug on the engine side of the firewall where that ^ exits. Picture below:

    photo-11-6.jpg

Some have 90° aluminum tubing in that rubber nipple, mine did not. I just took a coat hanger and gentle gave it the business. Leaf litter and debris and about 1.5 cups of water came pouring out.

    That solved my issue.

The firewall grommet suggestion is another great suggestion and easy to diagnose.

There are two (that I know of) on the firewall. One on the passenger side, pictured here (it's the large one in the background, not the small one in focus - I made that one):

    IMG_6850_zpsxx5pkigk.jpg

There's one on the driver's side as well. Harder to get to/see because of the master cylinder et al. I can't find any pictures of it, probably because I was so defeated after pulling 2 ga power wire through it for my amps.
