Thanks for the info gents. I believe my truck has the plug harness wired for the locker (and maybe fogs, can't remember) even though I do not have that option, I should be able to use those dimmer wires. I have also heard that the led contra V switches won't dim properly without some sort of "module" or something. Any experience with this?

Lastly, regarding pin 2 on the Contra V switches, I've seen from Skygear's pics that they can be daisy chained together, but where do you recommend getting power from? I was gonna go directly from the fuse box with a 15A fuse because the switches are labeled as 15A capacity. Or would I be better off just using a fuse tap to power all of my pin 2 terminals?

And pin 8 just goes to a convenient ground, right?

So what's the consensus on getting the led rocker switches to dim anyway? Do they dim "correctly"? The switches I'm currently testing have incandescent bulbs so they will dim for sure. But when I ever seem to get my rtmr outta sky I'm gunna use led switches, so....am I wasting my time with this dimming thing when I'm going to use led switches??

Now that i think of it, aren't most of the dash lights led? I believe the instrument cluster is all led on 2012+, but they dim normally.

I just finished sorting out my indicators on a switch bank of 5 contura rockers. I am running a '03 Tundra: so things are a little different but not too much. I ended up running the indicator LED's off the hot from the cabin dim switch; so they are on with headlights, but won't dim. Then I just dropped a few resistors on that feed to dim down the LED's to a nice level. I found the switch indicators were much much brighter than my display lights so dimming them together would not work well. Honestly how often do you change the intensity of your display, I think I set them the first night I drove the truck and have never touched them since. Just my .02

I will also say I need to post my finished install up here, I promised Sky I would once I finished the overhead switches. Maybe I can snap some pics tomorrow.

Yea the led switches are bright. Otrattw(james) warned me they would be when I asked for a custom switch. I need to drop a resistor in to bring them closer to the dash lights.

Yeah I'm worried the switches will be too bright at night that's why I'm trying to get em to dim down, when I get everything hooked up.

what kind of resistors are you guys looking at? Those tiny little capsule shaped ones you can get from radio shack? Then I guess its a matter of trial and error til you find a resistor that provides the brightness you want.

Okay, now we're getting somewhere for the 1st gens.

    @bry838, please report back.

@skygear, when you say connect the positive and negative from the dimmer switch to the positive and negative on the back of the V1D1 switches, are the latter pos/neg wires the ones you have coming off the switch backs? Brown and white (if my memory serves me correctly).

Woot! Made some switch backs! What a pain this was. Got the hang of it toward the end though. They came out nice. I'm gonna put them in the 3 blanks I have left of the steering wheel.

The green wire goes to dimmer +, white to dimmer -, red to +12V and black to ground. The grey, blue and purple will go to their respective relays.

Kudos to you Sky for doing this add nauseum. It's tougher than it looks.

Stuff and things that make it better.
If it helps, here is how I got the dimmer (rheostat) to work with my switches (first gen 01-04):

    When you say:

"One tap is on the white/green wire and the other is on the green/red one"

Is that coming off the back of the dimmer knob on the dash? Pretty sure my 1998 has different colors coming off of it.

^^^^^yeah me too! And I only have two wires off the back of my dimmer. Both of them white with green and black stripes. I'm a 2000 though, could be a 3rd gen 1st gen thing having the third green wire maybe?

Sorry for the funky quote I was playing around with how to post, quote, copy and paste.....
