    Holy F'in crap dude.

    How did I miss this post of yours? You gave me the answer days ago.

    At least I bought a $3 handy tool and actually used it to find my answer.

    Thank you in arrears.

    That is correct. I have the 3.4 with a 5-speed.

    Both I just tested that dangling connector and it definitely only comes on with the parking/headlights and dims with the dimmer. I have no clue wtf that is for.

    For s and giggles I tested that thing. It's constant hot. Door open, door shut, truck off... it lights up the meter constantly. Dafuq is that too?

    @skygear

    Just to confirm. The brown and white wires coming out of the first switchback are for dimmable illumination. Brown = (+) and White = (-)?

    Here are two pics of what I'm talking about.

    That's weird its always constant hot! I'm still 99.99% sure its for your ignition ring and the fact you don't have one means there will be an empty connector hanging there. I'm curious though, I'm gunna test mine next time I'm in there and check it out, should be soon. Whenever I get my box and have a day to install it.

    Oh!! and I have that same connector that you found that has dimmable power just hanging around in the same area!!! Thats what i used for my G-R wire. Mine is a lil different but....Has four wires instead of three, Its that flat connector to the right of the two wire dimmer connector I unhooked (for the pic), in that last pic I posted. But its sure a convenient place to get our dimmable illumination(first gen)!!! Don't have to tap into and mess around right behind the dimmer, just utilize the W-G from that connector instead, along with the G-R as your positive. Easy shmeezy. I do suppose not all first gen just have that connector unused though, for whatever its for?? But if its hanging there it just became very convenient dimmable illumination for all your rocker switches or any lighted switch for that matter.

    If those two wires will make contact with pins #6 and #7 on your rockers then they are for sure illumination wires. Those two pins are on the right side of the switch, the side with just two pins, one at the top and one at the bottom.

    Then of course
    Pin#6 is positive... G-R wire
    Pin#7 negative... W-G wire

    So the other day I broke my second switch face off. About a year ago I had seen some real nice thin gauge round stock made into u shape switch guards. Thought they were on otrattw but didn't see them there and having a hard time rounding any up. Couple options on eBay but they were semi circle style and Amazon didn't realy pan out either. I thought they would be pretty common but.....anyone have any recomendations??

    I did find those a bit ago! I like that design too! Cause the ones I was thinking about had flared ends with holes to mount with screws.

    It's kinda interesting how many of those things are marketed towards the aviation industry... I get it though, can't be "hittin switches" in the cockpit....

    Does anyone know if you can get DPDT relays that fit this box?

    No, I do not believe so. The max pins are 5. Most DPDT that I have seen are 8 pin..

    To all. I ran out of 14gauge red and blue last week. Ordered them and They are in transit to me.

    @Madjik_Man - Yes. I would still check your Switch wiring diagram.

    @Mako99 - I apologize. I will check shortly.

    @bry838 - Wire. That is the only thing stopping the shipment of your order. The Box is done. I reworked the switchbacks.

    Thanks for the reply. You wouldn't happen to know of a similar box that accepts DPDT relays, would you?

    What are you trying to accomplish? Sometimes you can just use two relays to accomplish the same as a DPDT... not ideal as it uses two of them but can work in a pinch.

    I converted my Prerunner to 4wd using the Tacoma (electronic shift) transfer case. I was too cheap to buy the ECU and I know a few controls engineers that helped me design a relay control logic circuit. It needs 6 DPDT relays. In some situations you can use two SPDT relays in parallel, but it's not guaranteed that they will switch at the same time. In my circuit, would need the two SPDT relays to switch exactly at the same time to avoid any problems. So I won't be able to use this trick.
