I agree. I asked multiple questions before installing my box

 

Did Skygear fall off the planet? Multiple PM's, no answers. I paid on 12/22/14. Waited long enough. I'm cutting bait.

 

Hey skygear,

When you get a moment, please reply to my PM (or send me one yourself) with a verification of some sort of the tracking number, the address you shipped my order to, and the date it shipped. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here that you shipped it when you said you shipped it. It has been 10 days since, and nothing has shown up. The tracking number I received in January still shows no updates as of January 31. I'm checking constantly, and will update if I have received it. Here's what I see:




I would hate to go the route to take any action via my credit card or paypal to get my money back, but as it sits I've got no meaningful assurance that I'm going to get what I paid for. I still want your product, by the way!

Going to wait for your reply for a reasonable amount of time for sure, but I'm painted into a corner over here.

I paid 12/22 and no box. I'm past reasonable.

 

Still no PM response. I'm starting to really think I was had.

 

If it means anything, I haven't had any communication response from him either.

I placed my original order on Jan 13th after speaking on the phone with him for 2hrs.

Since the initial order took so long to ship, I added another component to the order. I've been told it would ship multiple times in the past month+

The last text I received from him was on March 20th saying he would ship my order on Weds, March 25th. He was very apologetic and open about the work load and delays. And I appreciated that communication and I told him I am a patient person.

However I have received no PM or text since asking for simple communication to inform me of where my order is. I admit I am a bit frustrated. I have no problem waiting for a high quality project made by a TW member. But the lack of communication is bothersome.

I understand he is on, or was on, vacation (found this out by reading through his post history) recently and is planning an epic road trip to install units thereafter.

I just want my order to ship prior to that road trip.

Meanwhile, my account was debited $260+ on January 13th.

 

I'm down $212. I just want my money back. SPOD is $345 and comes with reliability and people to help.

That's bullshit. Apparently a bunch of you ordered your boxes up to two months before me and I already have mine. While I'm thankful thy I didn't have to wait 4 months, I think it's bad service that he filled my order before people who ordered months before me.

 

That was one thing I was questioning.

If he was sending out orders that were received after I initially placed mine. That does not make me feel good and is not good business practice.

Now granted, I added on to my order since it took over a month longer than the original time frame I was quoted, but still...

And come to think of it, I sent him an OTRATTW switch blank in order to mock up the CB disconnect.

 

I just left a message on his voice mail.

At this point I've tried every communication possible. PM, post in this thread, text and voice mail.

What would have really helped, IMO, is to have a similar OP that most vendors have. Color coded order list with dates. That way we could see a running update of who ordered what, when, who paid, and who shipped.

And if you're going on vacation and have orders pending for months, be a little more specific than "the first week of April." This way when I'm sending PMs, texts or calling, I'm not wondering if you're still on vacation (primarily because I don't want to disturb you) or getting a better understanding of when I can expect communication from you.

 

Paid for the later order parts with the earlier money? Pyramid? $212 doesn't break me, but it pisses me off!

 

I don't have an order in with Skygear but plan to down the road. I've been following this thread and get the feeling he is probably overwhelmed right now, and not that he has any intentions to rip anyone off. Although I will agree that communication has seemed to drop off somewhat which is not good business.

Anyhow just my $0.02 but sorry to see you guys have been waiting so long

I do not believe he's a scammer, scoundrel, or malicious whatsoever.

I truly believe he is completely overwhelmed with orders and unable to fulfill them in the time frame he originally intended

He has admitted this himself several times.

Throw in the fact he does have a family and full time job and you end up with this situation.

Which is why I've been so patient and reasonable for so long. I'm understanding. What's frustrating though is the over promising and lack of communication. If you are setting off to undertake such an endeavor then you need to be prepared for it on all levels.

By no means am I making excuses for him but I am expressing my opinion that he isn't being malicious. I believe he's just overwhelmed entirely.

 

He did note he was on vacation/trip recently.

 

He's never just gone off line. I can see his wife getting upset with all the stuff, but you'd think he would say something.

Yup I'm with the rest of ya! Paid early January with several promises of shipment and even the ole "it should be done at the end of the week"....Nothing...and now he won't reply or post on his thread, not good news!

At this point I'd just like a little assurance that's its still gunna happen, but with NO communication its kinda hard to stay patient. What sucks is all the shit I had to buy to make this box be what I wanted it to be. Switches, switch plate, quality connectors, lights, compressor, weather pack crimper, wire, on and on. I still want the product but damn, let a brother know what's going on. If its gunna take two months say that, not "it'll be done any day" then weeks go by. I too like madjik man, changed my order after weeks of waiting. So... I gotta figure that added more time but again, just be up front about it. Don't give an unhonest time line. The member that got his a few days ago that ordered after many of us, his box was missing the power and ground leads, wtf!?!? That too worries me about the quality checks of his product.

Come back to us SKY!!!! I'm sure you're a stand up dude! When I talked to you on the phone I had no doubt about your ability or about you as a person! Just let us know what's up??

 

I talked to him and he took my order on March 20th, almost three weeks ago. He talked to me for over an hour and I had a really good feeling about him. But then I tried emailing him a couple times asking if he had ever heard back from his plate guy about a mount for my FJ, and I have never heard back. I then tried calling his phone and left a voice mail. Still nothing. I've got a three week wheeling trip coming up that I told him about needing the box for. I could've put this box together myself, but decided to leave it to a pro, and focus on the many other projects I must complete before the trip. I told him this and he assured me that he would have the box to me in no longer than four weeks. It's now too late for me to build the box myself and all I can hope for is that he delivers in the next week. This will really ruin my trip if I don't have a way to hook up all my accessories! Not to mention being out the $260.
I have been following this thread from the beginning and I have read really great things about him and his work. I hope that nothing bad has happened to him and he takes care of everyone soon. Please respond Mike.
