How long do you guys wait to apply the first coat of wax after buying a new Tacoma? Is there a sealer applied by the Port or dealer?

Mine is a few weeks old, and I'm thinking of applying the first coat of Collonite 845.

There's no need to wait to wax/seal a new car. That is only for body shop repairs while the paint cures.

I use Adam's sealant, then wax. Then once or twice a month I'll do a maintenance wax on top of the sealant.

I'm lazy. I use F11 on my truck once a year and it always looks awesome!

    I swear by the stuff

I keep saying I'm gonna clay & wax mine, but 18 months later here I am just hand wash with Mother's premium carnuva wax car wash soap and it shines good as new

But one of these days I will, I promise! :D

    Cheers!

I clay bar/seal my truck with klasse acrylic sealant like every 5-6 months, wash it every 1-2 weeks and follow that up with duragloss spray wax. Don't really see the need for regular wax at this point. Looks really good, almost can't see the extensive side striping

    LS1 swap with nitros.
I do a clay bar, polish (e.g. Klasse) then apply Pinnacle Diamond Surface Coating (can get 5-7 vehicles per bottle). ( ). Helps being ~1 mile away from auto geek too.

I do this annually and the truck is stored in the garage and only hand washed. No need for paste wax.

I did my first clay bar and two coats of Meguiar's ultimate liquid wax about 2 months ago after owning my 2017 for 7 months. The clay bar barely picked up anything. But I wash my truck 1-2x a month and it's stored in my garage.

Guys....coatings absolutely do not last more than one year. Doesn't matter which brand, how much you pay, etc. The coating is micro-thin. Washing and wiping your car removes it just from the friction of the towels. I have used several different brands over the years and have never had them last more than one year.

Want your truck to look great? Just wax it twice a year with Finish First Polish. It is a cleaner wax that actually lasts. It will remove any grime, fall-out, etc., and leave a nice layer of protection.

I use Finish First on my Lambo, Hummer, Expedition and Taco. I have been using it for years and have found absolutely nothing that works better...and trust me, I have spent a fortune trying every brand of wax out there!
