I applied my first coat of Collonite 1 month after I got it. Didnt see the need for clay bar yet. Maybe in another 6 months or so.

What about the clear paint protectors applied by the "port" before it's delivered to the dealership? Is it safe to apply wax over those too? I was told by the dealership that it's made by 3M and thinner than XPel. Only reason they had to tell me this is that the original stuff had a defect and they replaced it with actual XPEL that they sell (no cost replacement for me).

I use Maguires Ultimate synthetic. Carnuba waxes turn white paints yellow over time if not removed. Every other month.

I clayed and waxed my '17 almost immediately after bringing it home. The paint obviously comes from the factory without any sort of sealant or wax as it was super dry and did not sheet water very well when I first washed it. Mine had some minor contaminants (rail dust, something that appeared to be tree sap and/or bird shit) on the horizontal surfaces but came out clean as a whistle after a 30-minute clay job.

I too use Collinate 845 and apply it with a Porter Cable random orbital polisher using Chemical Guys Hex-Logic pads. I plan to apply every 6 months (late spring\late fall) and hope this truck stays looking as good as my '04--pushing 14 years old and the paint on it still looks nearly new, even after spending most of its life in the harsh desert sun.

Wolfgang Fuzion. By far the BEST wax I've ever used in terms of application and look. Its not quite as durable as some of the sealants but the ease of application makes up for it, I wax my truck about once a month. I've used all the good stuff... Pinnacle Souveran, Klasse, Zaino etc.
