Way to get racing engine whine sound?

Gear drives have mostly gone by the wayside due to electronic ignition systems and knock sensor technology. The very sound we seek plays hell on control signals sent to the ECU. Ditch the electronics and put an old school magneto in it though...

 

I'll take the whine of a two-stroke any day. Okay, below, definitive proof of a kart's supremacy, and why F1 drivers practice in them so much:

Resume the Porsche vid, then quickly resume the kart vid above. Watch the kart overtake and quickly walk away from the Porsche. This is the same Porsche GT3 that is raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Lemans. And a 125cc shifterkart dominates it. The Porsche only dominates in straight line speed on the straights. Everywhere else the kart dominates the Porsche. (More fun to drive too!)

WITHOUT helical cut gears. You can quiet a Procharger down real well with helical cut gears.

 

I don't know if I would go so far as to call it little gain, but they are costly. Cheaper than a V8 swap however!

 

You will also need to remove all the CATs from your exhaust. And then only drive your truck in Mexico, cause itll be illegal in the US for on road use.
