I'm tempted but I wanted to echo some of the concerns I read earlier in this thread about warranty. You seem like a great guy to deal with but having only one point of contact kinda makes me wary about when and if something came up. And replacement parts...if those struts are anything like the shitty ones that came on my Leer cap I'll be replacing them every few years. Who makes this RTT and do they offer any sort of tech support? Since it's overseas I imagine I'd get screwed too much on shipping to even try and get parts from the original manufacturer.

Sorry for all the questions, it's just a lot of money to throw at something that I can't research or reads reviews on

If you damage a strut out of warranty just punch the measurements into McMaster Carr’s website and order replacements.

So something like the CVT Mt Shasta uses the same struts?

    Always good to hear concerns.

So me being the only person for contact is to actually help you, to take away the unknown of where do I even start to have something replaced or fixed. Imagine if you contacted the manufacture about something warranty related, but they have no idea who you are, zero record of you buying one of their products, along with the language barrier, and asking for something for free on top of everything. That is where the issues lie imo. I have no issue with passing along the contact information if someone isn't happy with how I am handling a situation

Most parts are easily accessible here in the states, if you are not happy with the struts then you can upgrade them. Like most things, take care of your equipment and it will take care of you.

Probably, all you would need is collapsed and extended length and you can buy a strut from most places.

Yup most of the stuff is interchangeable, the ladder just hangs on a hardshell so you don't have much to worry about that anyways. Plus I order extras

Awesome thanks for the quick response.

I'd be fine running it on a cap with Thule rack? I read in some of the older posts that static vs dynamic loads are where some confusion lies in the weight ratings

No problem man. I don't see an issue, weight is roughly 150lbs. Dynamic vs static are very different, think of it as a 2x4 stretched across two points, you can walk across and it will bend a little but will hold your weight but if you push down your weight it will likely snap. Not to say a RTT with people in it is overloading your rack but a reference. Its tough to judge what a rack can hold because of the variables involved

I have an ARE Z-series cap with Yakima round bars. Previously I had a Leer cap with the same Yakima bars. RTT was mounted on both caps. I can't confirm either of these were reinforced caps, most likely not. But I've never had a single problem with RTT and awning mounted to the caps. And that's with probably 10k miles of driving.

Not to be an ass but you are knowingly interested in a no-named, non-branded RTT shipping directly from a Chinese factory for basically $500-$1000 off what this would be if it were from a branded American company and your concerns are tech support, warranty, and replacement parts? I think the expectation is that you go into this deal knowing that there will be NO tech support, warranty, or customer service to save $500-$1000. If those are your real concerns then you will need to pony up the money to CVT, Tepui, or whatever branded RTT.

Yea pretty much. $1500 isn't something I want to throw away without asking questions or doing some research on. I probably will hold off for a name brand product but I was given the ok to buy a tent in this price range (and not much higher) so I was genuinely interested.
