Gold Complex Fires by Portola in eastern Plumas Co, blew up pretty good the first few hours, news sounded like it laid down pretty good overnight, as it only grew another 300 acres from what I could find. I’m west below Bucks Lake.

Thank you, I'm west of Portola by 40 miles maybe. Hot and dry, not even camping due to the extended heat wave.

    Stay safe.

FWIW, I was watching something about the water bombers and night vision. I sure hope that comes to fruition imagine how night operations could impact big fires.

Been back from Washington and Oregon about two weeks with Repo pup, missed the high temps up there now. Didn't see anything of the fire west of LaPine at that time. Just been waiting to see, got lucky the Rainbow folks didn't start anything a few weeks back when they were up by Antelope Lake, then close to Lake Davis, the FS and LE had a heavy presence, siting many for different offenses.

They have a line around the Mill Fires part of the complex, but no containment, they just need to hold the line. The FS Info Officer this morning, speaking on the radio said she could see no smoke coming off the fire to indicate where the fire was, from where she was, so that is good. 2300 acres so far burned.

We really need a good summer storm or three to bring some moisture in. It's too damn hot and too damn dry.

Be careful what you wish for. I was listening to the weather and there've been mentions of rain but the L word factors as does "dry". A good soaking storm followed by cool weather would be nice. No lightning and no dry.

Yeah, definitely don't want that kind of storm. Bring the rain.

Even in Meadow Valley, on my deck it has been mid 80's to 89 mostly, but one day I moved my thermometer down to a post on my dog pen and it was 95 there. My deck hit 90 or so a day ago maybe. Never seen it this hot so long, usually for a week maybe, I've been here since '81, elev. 3800'. Usually cools down around 6PM, the last 10 days takes until 7:30 to where I can open all the windows when it is 78 or higher inside. The previous couple summers I only needed to open some windows a few nights to cool it down inside.

I was just outside with the dog. Starting to cloud up a bit. They look like alto cumulus but hard to tell. It’s about 70° and 65% RH. Maybe someone gets rain?

There’s a 130,000 acre fire 7 miles from my home that’s been burning for the last month and a half. Luckily it’s on the other side of a large river although when the wind shifts this direction the smoke gets so thick you can’t see beyond about 100yds.

Been in the mid 50's by morning, I can handle being outside before coffee in my shorts and t-shirt.

Yeah, north in Alaska. Didn’t notice this was posted in the Northern California sub forum, just opened it from the main page. My bad.

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about the Park Fire. Started in some public park--rumored to be arson. Blew up last night to 45k acres. There's a google map with all the fires that's pretty interesting.
