Oh yes... I've been waiting for that to occur for a long time now. You see, out here in overpriced Bay Area, California, something like 70% of all the loans made from 2005-2007 were Alt-A type loans. All on extremely expensive homes. $500-$800k houses. Everyone out here thinks even now that home prices are worthy of their price since its so "special" here. But when these suckers reset, this area will get clobbered.

I recall seeing a chart 6 months ago that showed Alt-A resets. It was almost the same amount as The subprime mess. The difference this time around is that a lot of these loans were for even larger amounts.

Like I've been saying all along, this "crisis" will correct itself once ordinary middle class citizens can actually afford a home on a legitimate income. It'll happen, stimulus or not.

You don't need flames. You need glasses and hearing aids. The republicans that are Americans that I watched and listened to said that stimulas package was wrong. To pick and choose who your going to give money to was not the right thing to do. At that time if you go back they let some of the financial companies go under while saving some others.

Again we don't need to divide.....are we Americans with a problem that needs fixing? Or are we Democrats that have already solved the problem and Republicans that have screwed up the world and need to be pardoned?

I think that most would agree we are Americans with a problem. And that both Republicans and Democrats have been in power the last 100 years.
I'd like to blame it on the Independents but if you read a previous post you would see who I think is to blame.

Hey I think the color of your truck is sic.

I am tired of people making this a republican/democrat thing... it's a free America vs a Controled america thing. Yes.. there were plenty of people complaining about the first stimulus. Me included. And many republicans complained about it too so don't be a blame Bush defend Obama person.

Plus last i checked, Bush's plan didnt have close to $50,000,000,000.00 of pork in it. take for instance the $300,000,000.00 for eco golf carts for DC, and I dont remember how many millions for that damn San Francisco endangered rat, $150,000,000.00 for honey bee insurance

This is precisely why the damn Dems wont let anyone (including you or me) read the Proposed spending bill before they vote on it.

    C,mon man....

Its pretty damned obvious to me that this is a very anti-democrat, liberal post, so I don't buy that political allegiance is not the reason behind opinions. Like I've said- they're both guility. But you can't deny the absolute fact that all of this crap we're dealing with prospered and mushroomed during the last administration. Remember- the recession is well over a year old. Yet prior to the new admin, I NEVER heard any bitching, complaining, griping, or whining about how bad everything is.Magically, its now its ALL Obama's fault. Yessire indeed- he created this whole mess, lock stock, and barrel.

Like I've also said- I heard a crapload of whining from Liberals out here in the left coast. Bush could do no right, ever. It was totally pointless to talk to these people because for all they knew, conservatives, Bush, and Republicans were scum. Now its the same crap: Democrats are in power, thus Conservatives will find whatever they do as wrong, bad, stupid, and so on.

THAT's whats Fuc#ed up about this country. Outright division. One side versus another, political gridlock, and a clinging of everyone's belief in what they think is absolutely totally right.

But I guess nothing had really changed so I should just shut up nd get used to it.

Sorry, I'm rather drunk at the moment and will probably be sorry I wrote this later.

Holy crap dood. Check the MSM. Where have you been. EVERYTHING was Bush's fault according to them and practically everyone i talked to.

No one said Obama created this mess. Actually clinton is largely responsible due to the Fair Housing Act. Obamas just going to fu*k it up worse with this crazy a$$

The Stimulus "plan" was initiated by the Fed. If people want to find something to blame, the Fed is more responsible than anything. Now I don't buy the other conspiracy that the media is all-liberal. Wanna' bet? Can you say Fox News? They're about as absolutely conservative as you can possibly get. So yes- there is liberal media ( NPR) and Conservative media ( Fox).

Lastly, I agree with a couple of other guys here. We wouldn't be having problems right now if consumers actually used their brains to make purchases such as housing, cars, etc etc. Should government get heavily involved with running the economy? No, not in my opinion. But at the same time, people have to be responsible for themselves.

1st off, all involved dub this "Obama's plan", including himself.

    Secondly,

Left leaning or worse -- MSNBC, CNN, NPR, CNBC, all of my local news stations, most national papers.

Right leaning or worse -- FOX News.

Off the top of my head, thats like 30 to 1.

AGREED you take any public broadcast (NON-PAID) television programing and it is VERY anti Bush along with every idiot hollywood star that thinks they know everything because they are rich. the only way you can get a conservative station is to pay for Fox news. Or listen to the radio

And now there is the "FARENESS DOCTRIN" which is nothing more than Democrats crying because conservative talk shows are getting such a huge following and they have a lot of air time. This is a bunch of BS that now they are trying to say you can't have air time...

Well WTF do you think they are on the radio for... BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET FACE TIME ON REGULAR TV.

sounds like a control of the freedom of speech to me.

awe man, i dont even know where to start, so ill just bite my tongue. We disagree.

EDIT: There are 2 things i must bring up. For Profit business and their "fat cat" CEO's" are in business to make money and they will do anything they can to make money. When Big companies and companies in general make obscene amounts of money, this is a GOOD THING. Why? because when these companies make obscene amounts of $$ then they can expand and create more jobs, give existing employees a higher salary, provide larger benefit packages, etc. Its really simple. If you have an exceptional CEO, who keeps your company profitable, you want to keep him/her. how do you do this? you pay him/her at the very least their current market value. AT&T for example, turned a profit of 12.8 billion last year, even with the shitty market conditions. Im not sure what they paid their CEO but im sure it was in the several millions of dollars. It was a percentage of the profit that the company turned last year. Boards of Directors are not stupid, they are not going to overpay anybody, they pay individuals what they are worth in current market conditions. Although these numbers sound incredible and unfair to you they are a bargain to all involved. Hey, I still have a job because AT&T was profitable last year. Just because something sounds "selfish", etc., doesnt mean its true. Especially when you do not stop to think about the larger picture.

What exactly will happen when people in power try to "punish" "fat cats". Ill tell you....the company loses money and you and me lose our jobs. thats the long and the short of it.

Much of the reason that companies are going overseas, is because of the anti-business attitude that the Fed and States alike harbor. Huge and increasing business tax, BS environmental laws that make it impossible to turn a profit. I would get the hell out of here too.

Like I said. Liberals... Conservatives...Republicans... Democrats. They all smell exactly the same to me. They watch what They want to believe and hang out with people who think like them. I guess its the "other" side's time to whine, so we've got another 4 years of having to hear it. Either way, I'm done with this thread.

The ironic thing here is we all drive Japanese trucks. The GOP fucked it up and now Obama and the Dems are trying to fix it. I feel bad for the employees of the failing corporations in this country but do not want my tax dollars rewarding the bastards. 3 trillion in Iraq seems like a waste not to mention the lives lost. Don't worry about your guns. Stocking up on ammo is a great idea (drives the prices up and leaves our soldiers in short supply). Learn your history. You need stinger launchers to take out helicopters and planes, either Russian or U.S. just ask the Afgans we sold them some. I hunt, and I laugh at the idiots who doddle about with assault rifles. 30 rounds just means more "missing". The real problem and no one want's to say it is population growth, not only here but world wide "more reading, less breeding". You have to jump through more hoops to buy a car than have a kid. The planets resourses simply cannot supply the population growth on a worldwide scale. Developing countrys whose citizens want to live as Americans do (big house, car, tv,etc..) this is going to be the real problem. Your guns are the least of your worries...your job on the other hand?....
