    I did it because its a little stronger than the stock. And I tow a rv occasionally. I was trying to back your statement about wiring size being irrelevant in MY situation. That the stock wire is not the reason for the battery drain.

    Anyway, this thread is no longer relevant to my original question, (why was my battery dead) so I leave it for everyone else to discuss.
