I’ve noticed what seems to be weak air flow in heat and AC modes. My fan not only chirps but hums in high. On full front vent with recirc or fresh air the air velocity seems to be the same (weak).

I feel like it should be much better. Cabin filter is new. I also experienced the resistor crapping out until I moved the connector. I ordered a new one. Yet to install.

Could a failing blower motor cause weak air flow?

Could be a bad blower. Have you ever cleaned your evaporator? Toyota sells or used to sell a kit, you spray a can of expanding cleaning foam into the ac drip line. Let it do its thing for like 5-10 minutes then drain it out. It also has an after treatment you spray into the blower with the fan on to help make the vents smell better after. I usually do mine every few years since a lot of dirt gets past my cabin filters.

Edit: link to the toyota kit

Blower motors go bad. So does the resistor.

KeiRei said put a KN washable cabin filter for more flow so I did that.
Threw a blower motor at it. Why not.

new one looks different. That means there’s a design improvement. Which is a good thing.

this looks good. As in the drip line at the frame many of us have relocated downwards off the frame? Hopefully that can is strong enough to actually get upward into the evap through that hose.

The resistor is by-passed on High.
If the air flow is still weak on high, it's the blower motor or fan speed switch.
The fan speed switch typically only fails on High speed setting. It's super easy to pop out, it the High speed pin isn't burnt, I'd feel safe calling it a blower motor issue.

Also, if the resistor is giving you issues, might as well replace it too.

I had the same issue my high blast would work but nothing else it was a solenoid it should be about $50 and the are plenty of forms about them.

Time to recharge your system? I recharged the A/C system on my RV. Picked up a couple of cans from Harbor Freight tools. So easy a retired Teacher could do it!

    Just, No.
The AC Charge has nothing to do with air flow.

my resistor went out and then the blower failed soon after

I feel that the resistor went because the blower did in my case

The blower air flow cools the resistor. No flow no cooling and resistor burns out.

I had an issue on my Gen2 where high fan speed would work, but got very weak or non-existant on other speeds. Sharing in the low chance it's related.

There's a quick-connect wire in the passenger footwell that controls fan speed. I inadvertently discovered it to be the issue because my sunshade slipped down there and bumped it, and my fan suddenly started working again. I grabbed the shade and it stopped. Jabbed around and it worked, etc. Ended up checking all the connectors down there, and sure enough one was a little loose. Electrical taped it up and never had the problem again.

Thank you for taking the time to add a link.

I have not cleaned the evaporator. I will give the kit a whirl and see.

I don't expect the vents to blow my hair back, but the output just seems low and virtually unchanged across all speeds. I may also look into replacing the blower motor seeing as it hums and chirps.
