Theres hitch cubbie storage thingies available, but I'd be very careful with having something as valuable as the key to potentially steal the truck stored anywhere outside. For emergency purposes only, I do have a dummy key (just opens doors) stashed somewhere deep under the truck, that would take somebody an awful lot of looking blindly to find it, and even if they do, all they'd be able to do is just open the truck.

someone suggested getting a key with a chip (not fob) to open & operate the vehicle. dealer is telling me only a fob works.

    who's correct?

is the valet key enough to operate the vehicle????

I keep my keys in my pocket or on a hook inside my room.

Spare key lives in the house with the spares for the other family vehicles.

BTW, not a really good idea to stash a key on the vehicle

valet keys are typically programmable keys that will limit certain functions of the vehicle, like speed, radio volume etc. What I mentioned is a dummy key, as in a key blank that matches the Toyota OEM key blank, cut it using your existing key as a template, and dont program it, that way it only serves to open doors for emergency use.
