I got the Weathertech no drill mudflaps. They went on pretty easy. The front ones though require a screw on the bottom of the flap going into the fender. The screw is supplied by Weathertech. My problem is there is nothing for the screw to grab onto.Anyone else run into this ?Also how much did you tighten the other screws? I snugged mine up pretty good but I'm afraid of stripping something if I go too tight.

I was hoping to get an update on how these mudflaps are holding up in your SR? I am thinking about purchasing them for my SR as well. Anyone else use these?

I seem to remember something like that with the screws. I have 2 screws along the outside and one on the far inside near the top.

I've had mine for 8 or 9 months. They are holding up fine.

I bought flaps for my TRD sport, and I initially had the same problem. It was the wrong flaps. Weather tech asked if I had fender flares which I said according to your picture no but it turned out that I did and they sent me the correct flaps.

Maybe try contacting them about it?

Mine are holding up well. The front flaps have a hole at the top to screw onto. My truck had no grommet in that hole. Weathertech sent me the grommets I needed.

I remember mine going on without issue or modification. Everything lined up perfectly.

With that said, they are holding up fine ... but I have snagged them on a few things. Not enough to cause damage of any kind, but I think it's only a matter of time. Once I add flares, I plan to go to Plasticolor flaps.

How can you tell if you have fender flares or not? I've already placed an order for without, but am doubting my choice now. I assumed fender flares meant the black plastic looking additions.

I just removed my PlastiColor flaps and installed the Weathertech's. I liked the Plasticolor but the outside bottom corners on all four flaps were bending outwards and back - didn't like that so switched them out. As far as the Weathertech's, I too found out that the front flaps bottom screw did not have anything to grab and secure - just an empty hole. Will contact AutoAnything and see if they have the plastic inserts to pop into the hole so I can insert the two bottom screws. Other than that I like the look of them. I think I will find some locktite to help keep the screws from backing out since you can't tighten them but so much.

Honestly i didnt notice a difference until i went to install them, but i imagine that the fender is a bit wider. If one of the screw holes doesnt line up when you install them them you got the wrong ones. I'll try to find a decent pic of my truck amd put it on here...

Someone mentioned on another thread a couple of weeks ago about requesting the inserts with the order. Ordered sr5 flaps and got sr ones. The exchange is already underway.

Thanks. Looking at your pic, I probably ordered the wrong ones. Well, I'll know for sure when they get here!

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I had a week before delivery of my 17’ SR5 DC so I thought I’d get a head start and order some parts. With just the picture to go on I assumed that my Tacoma didn’t have fender flares so that’s what I based my order on. When I picked up my truck on Friday I realized that I had screwed up. Weather Tech told me to send the mud flaps back and they would send me the correct ones.

Can someone post pictures of the Weathertech mud flaps installed? I am thinking of replacing the OEM ones (cracked, my fault) and want to see how they compare.

For the SR and SR5 without the fender flares, the weathertech flaps work well. However the front flaps require grommets that are to be placed in the back side of the fender. These grommets are normally missing on the SR and SR5 Tacoma's. (It must have been a cost saving measure by Toyota.)

You will know if you need the grommets because the supplied screws will not screw in. The grommets just push in until you hear a click. They are a Toyota part. Part number is 90189-06236.

They cost about $1.00 each from your local Toyota dealer. You will need two grommets. Front weathertech flaps should come with 4 screws, but no grommets. I called weathertech to see if they would supply the grommets, and they said grommets must be purchased from Toyota. The back screw holds the front flaps tight against the inside fender.

I like the weathertech mud flaps because they seem to be of good quality. They are a stiff plastic, and probably would not be good for someone that does serious off reading. As for me, I never drive off road. In fact I never even drive on a dirt road. When I come to a dirt road, I turn around and go the other way.

You need two grommets. Toyota part number 90189-06236. You will need one for each front flap. Cost is about $1.00 each. Readily available at your local dealer. I tightened mine up as much as possible by hand. Had no problems with the flaps or screws. Definitely will need the grommets. Just push them in to place until they click. They go on before the front flap.
