I installed Weather Tech in channel Window vent visors on my Brand New Tacoma double cab following the directions to the letter and ensuring clean windows etc. I noticed today just a week after installing them, very deep scratching all along the edges of the glass that comes in contact with the vent visors. I'm extremely bummed and disappointed. Ive always been extremely pleased with weather tech products. Anyone else experience this?

I can try tomorrow. Might be hard to get a picture of the glass? Its very deep all along the edge that contacts the plastic and only there

Dont see how the plastic could have possibly scratched your glass deeply.

Pic would be good if you can

Chance that your windows are tinted and it is scratching the tint?

but did u clean the CHANNEL and felt/rubber on the window frame?

the visors may push the glass against the trim pieces more now and if theres anything abrasive like built up dirt, thats gunna scratch the glass.

FWIW I have had mine for a few yrs and have tinted glass............. zero issues

New truck and I did clean the glass well. Maybe the channel had grit in it but I don't see how? Its the glass side out facing the plastic channel that's scratched and just on the areas that contacts the plastic

Imagine the top of the window glass with little scratches in it

Can't get good pics with crappy phone in this overcast cloudy light. Just have to take my word for it. I am wondering if a tinting will cover it up

    Stock for now
I had weathertechs on my 06 for 5 yrs.
After awhile (many months) I did notice very small, like hazed scratches near the very top of the window.
Mostlly on the driver side for it got used the most :)
However, I did not keep my windows spotless & road salt, dirt probably got up in there.
Do not have them on my 13

I might try one of those glass scratch polishing kits and then put a thin piece of the 3-M chip guard on the edge of the window that contacts the plastic vent??? I do live on dirt roads so eventually it would have probably happened anyway? Worse case I'll have the window lightly tinted and see if that hides the scratches then add the chip guard!

Happened on both sets I've had on other trucks. I use my trucks off road a lot so sand, dirt and other grime gets in there. No big deal. You are cramming a piece of glass between a seal and a piece of hard plastic. I'm surprised that people DONT have scratched glass with these.
